Car cut out in the middle of nowhere !!

Post by johnbrander »

Something to bear in mind if the same thing happens to you.
Went out last night and on the way back home ran over a pot hole and car just "died" on me. Being a mechanic (part time) looked under the bonnet and scratched my head, in the middle of the countryside at 8.30pm and no tools aboard. Fortunately sold my 306 cabby in the morning and had explained to the buyer what everthing was under the bonnet etc including the cut out/over turned vehicle fuel pump cut out switch which i pressed and heard it click, tried the engine and started straight away.I've owned quite afew 306's that have this switch fitted but have never had to reset it - must have been a deep hole!!
Switch is located between the battery and bulkhead and is usually red
1) don't drive over pot holes - especially at speed
2) try this fix next time it just cuts out on you
Glad to have sold the 306 as the 206 much more practical to use - except for shopping!!
