Hi everyone. I have searched the topics here for roof problems but can't seem to find my particular problem with these damn "bings" and "bongs"!
Tried to put roof down today. Unclipped the catches inside (the cover in the boot is pulled over ok) and got a "bong". Pulled roof switch and got intermittent "bings" but no roof movement. No sound of motor. I haven't used the roof since last summer but seem to remember that I only used to get a "bong" when the roof had completed the up or down action?? Initially, independent of the roof, none of the windows worked but they started working after a few minutes. I can't find a fuse listed that specifically covers the roof?
Any help gratefully received and yes I am female and blond!!!

Re: Roof!!
OK I have spent hours looking through all the useful information on here re my roof and it seems to be likely that one or more micro switches are to blame. I have the location of these but this is all well and good if you know what a microswitch looks like!! Are they the "push in" connector things by the hinges etc? The one on the boot cover clip is obvious to find..do they all look like this?? I also have no loop thing with string attached on the left hand side of the plastic cover in the boot. Does that matter??
Thanks very much if you can help a non-tekkie!!

Hi!
I have the exact same problem but am unable to find the cause for my issue either. :-(
My plan is to have a look at the micr-switches this evening... fingers crossed!

Re: Roof!!
I have spent most of the day fiddling with the micro switches I can find and generally trying everything that the forum users have suggested but still no roof opening. There has been some progress though. When I pull the roof button the windows now drop which they didn't before and I get a "whirring" sound from the right hand side of the boot. I also get a message in the info binnacle above the dash saying "abnormale"! Does this give anyone any further clues?? If not does anyone know a good indy in the Reading/Henley on Thames area??

Re: Roof!!
It would seem not unfortunately. I have never worked on the roof myself (except to silicon grease my roof seals) so I can give you no constructive suggestions. However it would appear that your problem is microswitch related and there are threads on here already that cover those aspects. By searching those threads, as no doubt you have done, and by working through the microswitches one by one, you seem to have already made some progress. Be persistent and eventually you should sort each and every microswitch. You have found and sorted one culprit already.
Your messages seem to be coming up in French in the binnacle. The language can be altered if needs be by pressing and holding the left hand button, then toggling through the alternatives, much like changing the clock setting when the clocks went forward recently.
By documenting your progress you will be helping others who may have roof issues themselves, hence the number of interested viewers, who probably feel helpless in coming to your assistance.
Good luck with your diagnosis, and with finding the eventual solution.

Re: Roof!!
Hi Grandad and thanks for the response. Given my very limited (female!) knowledge of cars I had to take it to a garage today. Their diagnosis is a faulty hydraulic pump based on the fact that the "whirring" is the pump trying to operate and only if it does the first stage do most of the micro switches come in to play. I have sourced one on ebay for £100 so hopefully that will cure the problem. Thanks also for the tip on the language front.........I was expecting to start to see road signs on the motorway saying "Prudence"!!!

Re: Roof!!
I think you've done well. I suspect that I'd have taken it to a garage long before you. Let's hope that their diagnosis is correct and that the replacement you have sourced solves the problem. I shall be interested to learn the outcome. I'm sure all the other viewers will too.

Re: Roof!!
Update! Now I know I know nothing about cars but given all the info I have read on here about roof problems and the fiddling I have done I am not convinced, despite the view from the garage yesterday, that the problem lies with the pump. I have just spoken to an indy Peugeot guy in Reading and he said he has never replaced a pump in over 9 years of working on the 206CC and it WILL be an electrical fault somewhere. Car is booked in with him next week and will report back!

Good, at least you are going to someone who seems to know their Peugeots. Always best.
