Ask the question of the garage before you commit to buying the car, then post their answer here for us to comment on the likely truthfulness of their reply.

What were you doing when the beep occurred? Does the roof operate perfectly? Which engine 1.6 or 2.0? Did you experience it running from stone cold, or had it been warmed up before you got there? If it is a 2 litre then insist on a test drive from stone cold. Any hesitancy or misfire from cold could indicate the dreaded hydraulic tappet problem which is expensive to cure. Has the cam-belt been renewed yet? If it hasn't it is due, and is not a cheap job. If the cam-belt needs renewing I'd get the water pump renewed at the same time. Make sure you get the locking wheel nut key, the unique key code card, service history, and owner's manual. The jack and wheelbrace should be there too, together with a boxed kit including tyre inflation aerosols. Read the owner's manual thoroughly before you use the car, particularly the roof. Many issues are self-inflicted by un-informed owners. How many owners has the car had? How long did the last owner keep it? How many miles does it have on the clock?

Sorry to bombard you with questions but these are things that need checking before purchase.

Welcome to the forum Claire. Where abouts are you from?

Hello!

The car has 50,000 on it,2 owners, service history etc.2.0 litre allure.
We ran it from cold,i don't know if the noise was there constantly as we drove on a busy road for a while with the roof down and it was windy!,no warning lights were on,the dealer said it had just had a fault cleared (airbag light) i heard the beeps as we were pulling back in to garage, hubby missed them as he was talking to me.
The roof went up and down fine, one back window wouldn't go up when the roof did but he told us about that first off and said he is fixing it,it does come up if you hold it as someone presses button to put it up though. The car was on empty fuel wise as well but my pug beeps on engine starting not afterwards ( i have the basic 1.4 though!)

I am in Doncaster :-)
