Screenwash problem...?

Post by han18 »

Hi guys,

Just bought my 206cc, had it for three weeks now. When I needed it for the first few times, the screenwash was very responsive and I was happy with how it cleared my screen. Then after about a week, nothing was coming out, even after a few attempts and after waiting for the car to warm up. So I did the obvious and filled it up (assuming there was none left), and BARELY ANYTHING went in, it must have been around a pint or something.

I used it maybe 2-3 times, and now nothing is coming out again :S Do they just have really small screenwash tanks or do you think the problem lies elsewhere?

Any comments are appreciated :)

Did you fill it with water or screenwash mix?
If you have a weak mixture, it may be that washer bottle had frozen and bottle had big chunk of ice in it. Could be that the water you put in was the only liquid, rest was ice??
Cheers Col.

Screenwash and water, and this time of year I always make sure I use more screenwash because it says on the bottle it prevents freezing? Thank you for your response :)

I'm assuming the washer pump runs?

If you use a strong screenwash mix, it sometimes turns to jelly in the bottom of the washer bottle.
I would run a hosepipe into the washer bottle so that it overflows, taking the screenwash mix with it. After a few minutes try the washers, if they start to work, turn hose off and spray washers for a good 30-45 seconds to clear the washer jets and pipes out, then top up bottle with screen wash.
If this doesn't work you will have to manually clear jets/ pipes
Cheers Col.

Unfortunately I don't have any access to a hosepipe, we don't have one at home.. Unlucky me :( I don't want to take it to the garage for it, so what would you suggest doing to it manually?

That's a shame.
To do it manually you have to remove pipe from washer jet & washer bottle and blow it through. then blow jets out. reassemble and try again.
