Silence Is Golden ( Try this 1st) Roof beeps Gone!!!!

Post by TheMechanic »

Hello. I have Just joined on behalf of my non technical Sister. just had to say ''Well Done All!. your advise worked!. many many thanks.

My Sister brought a 206cc in A1 condition..3wks ago. she LOVES it.....
But , yes, you guessed it! . on the 1st day we put the roof down with a bong..by shear Luck...fine..
But later on, as typical '' Peugeot Virgins'' we put it up again..... and not knowing what we were doing, we did not know to listen out for and wait for the Bong!.
Result was 3 weeks of Beeps, and browsing the net.....
Found this gr8 site, and read tons of stuff on here.

In our case- The Car was perfect, everything and Roof worked perfectly.
Symtoms - Roof still worked ok but . Windows dont go down 1st. & Heated window & mirrors not functioning....

The Cure........ If everything was fine before you messed it up...or a pot hole set it off. etc' Try this.... 1st...
purely from what i read on here,
This is what i did....... no tools. no hastle.. no mess....in 1 hour... Job Done.

1.. Took the large 'SH' fuse out of the inside fuse box..... left it 30mins. and put it back in..
2.. Closed the open windows. shut & locked car..............left it 30 mins...

JOBs a GOODun .... got back in and operated roof ''By the Book'' everything back to normal... yey!...
with engine running for good power, and to try the heated window button, it all worked again.. reset radio & clocks. Done.
I've worked on cars for well over 40yrs, and have always believed in Have a Go & learn new stuff.
And modern cars, especially these Pugs really test your resolve to the max..
Many thanks to all the techno brains on here.

Well done and thanks for that information.

When I started it was on a 1956 Ford Prefect. A lot simpler to work on and very basic electrics. The vacuum powered windscreen wipers were a right sod though. When you wanted to go faster they would virtually stop, then when you took your foot off the gas the wipers went like crazy.

Electrics today........ like a computer - unplug and reboot!

Welcome to the forum. Bet your sister is pleased with you.
