Radio alarm/beep, new 'dream' car - stressed :(

Post by han18 »

Hello all,

Last Saturday I took the plunge and bought the car I've dreamt of owning for the past ten years, a beautiful 02 reg Peugeot 206 cc in a striking metallic blue.

However, I seem to keep finding problems with it, and although it is fabulous to drive, the problems are causing me to have a slight falling out with the car i've always wanted....disapointed really

The most irritating of all, is when I switch the radio on there is a VERY loud beep alarm sound. The garage told us it was due to their being a lack of fuel in the tank, but despite filling her up, the alarm still continued. We took it straight back (within two minutes of having her...) and they said it was a radio issue and COULD be because there may be a CD jammed in the radio. It made sense to us that the alarm would be making such a fuss if it was due to low fuel, but not because of something like that.

Could this really be the reason why it is beeping like that? I can't understand why the car would make such a fuss with a loud alarm over something so minor. I believe it must be something else, maybe with the battery?

It only happens when the radio is on, however even with the radio sound down low the beep stays at the same constant pace and noise. It's so loud I believe people could probably hear it outside the car....

If anyone has any experience it would be great, I'm taking the car back on Friday for them to sort it but would love to have a rough idea now!
:love-thx:
Many thanks,

Han :)

EDIT:
I have just found this video online, this is the same noise that mine makes:

sounds like you have the wrong radio in has it been coded to your car.

I was thinking that too.

Whatever it is, it certainly isn't anything to do with low fuel! The stuck CD thing sounds like a fob off too. I would take it back to the garage and get them to sort it out.

Hey, everything is sorted now! Turns out it was just a stuck CD, still don't understand why the car beeped so loudly just for that, must be a pretty smart car after all :P

Really happy with the outcome and love my sound system! Such a lovely car :D

I took it back to the garage and they did it for me, no idea how, they didn't tell me how or actually show me the CD...but that is what they said was wrong.

Hmmmm...... perhaps I am cynical.

At least you've got it sorted now and you can begin to enjoy your new car. You now have time to read your owners handbook from front to back thoroughly before the good weather arrives. Quite often any problems are caused on these cars by owners who don't read and adhere to the operating instructions.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
