Roof problem sorted!

Post by Capncol »

I posted on the "problems>other" forum about a car I had just bought and one of the issues was the roof wouldn't go down.
After checking through the micro-switches etc:, I narrowed it down to the handbrake warning switch. (Plug was slightly dislodged)
The car needs to have the handbrake on to lower the roof and this switch tells the ecu the H/brake is on.

The clues were
Got the chime when the locking latches were released (roof switches OK)
Got alarm chime when operating roof switch and windows were inoperative (suggests switch works)
Checked pull out screen micro switch, then all others.

The final clue is the handbrake warning light stopped working.

Hope this helps anyone having roof problems
Cheers Col.

Nice one! You're becoming quite an expert with the 206cc Capncol. Thanks for feeding back and the offer of use of the macscan tool for anyone in your area. Good luck with the gearbox :)

I've put the roof down whilst exiting the carpark before so I think you can drive and do it at the same time as long as your going very slow

Page 4 of the owners handbook does state that the car must be stationary with the handbrake applied before opening or closing the roof.

Certainly does, but during the summer I put my roof down whilst in a slow moving queue of traffic
I'm sure I read somewhere that the roof can be activated upto 10kmh
