CD stuck in Clarion Player

Post by marcos »

Hi everyone. I am sure this must have been talked about before but.......
I have just bought a 2003 206CC which when you push the eject button the unit just clicks and now I have removed the unit from the dash i can see that there is a cd stuck in there. When the eject button is pressed you can see a white plastic part clicking on the right hand side of the unit but nothing else moving. tried brute force but it seems jammed tight. If the cd is inserted does the centre spindle come up to fit into the cd itself cos it could be that that is preventing me from pulling the disc out. any advise will be helpfull

come on guys and girls anyone fancy taking theirs out of the dash and describing whats supposed to happen when you press the eject button? :hyper:

thanks

how confident do you feel taking it apart further ? the white plastic thing is driven by more plastic cogs and plastic things. one of the plastic cogs is held down with a see thru plastic cover the plastic around the screw holding this cover cracks allowing the cog to skip the teeth, thats the clicking. to access this you have to remove the cd player part cos its on the underside. it's a bit fiddly !

Thanks Timf,
It was exactly as you said i found a youtube clip showing how to eject the cd and then it was a simple matter of fathoming out how to get to the underside. I managed to semi disassemble the player to gain access to the motor underneath and sure enough the plastic has cracked. I was doing this in the dark and at -3 degrees so I will wait until it is light (and warmer) to try and effect a repair by fabricating a 'plate' and aralditing it to the cracked area and then putting a pad of foam sandwiched between the plate and the bottom of radio to add extra support. Hope this works and get it going again reliably. Sods law says that the broken bit is made of the sort of plastic that glue refuses to stick to.

many thanks again
