Hi

I seem to have two problems going on...

firstly the roof wont go down! I have made sure the boot is shut, I have unclipped the side things but i just get a beep unil i take my finger off the button!

also my central locking...works if i lock with the key but it only works with the fob when it feels like it!!

what is going on with my baby!!

Not meaning to insult your intelligence or anything, it's just that you didn't mention it and when I was new to my car, I forgot it too!

Have you pulled the rear screen across in the boot? It will beep at you until you release the button if it's not in place. I've done this - I went to put the roof down after owning it for 3 weeks - "beep beep beep beep" WHA- oh yeah, screen... :/

Dunno much about the central locking but I can give you a related hint about it - the boot locks with the doors, but it doesn't unlock with them, you have to unlock it with the key, right? Well, once you've unlocked it, it stays unlocked until you lock it or the car again. Also, when I let other people open my boot they always do it wrong - just insert key, turn to the.... left I think? (There's a bit of resistance, and you'll hear the noise)bReturn to centre, THEN press! Can press with key in or out, that doesn't matter. Once unlockled, a simple push with finger will do. People try twisting key while pushing button and all sorts of crazy

Hope it gets sorted quickly and easily for you! Problems with these cars, especially roof-related can cost a whole lotta $$$

yes that was the first thing i checked lol at first the windows didnt work either!

i double triple checked everything!

so it starts so i droveit down the road and back and itall worked fine including the central locking, but i did notice when i didnt work the battery light was lit up slightly

it then went a couple hours and was fine, tried it again today all the same so it seems to be a fault perhaps with the battery, however car starts fine everytime?

any ideas??

hmmmm...... Well, assuming all the electrics are fine, the next thing I can think of is the white, U-shaped jumper clips are out of place. This can happen on a bumpy road, or if the boot was shut rather vigorously. I don't know if it would cause beeping but the roof won't go down if they're not in place.

They are situated in the boot, up on the boot lid near the back window, one on either side. They can move 90 degrees, so that they point 'acroos', or point 'down', if that makes any sense. They should be pointing across.

Failing this, the sensor for the rear screen could have died or lost sensitivity and so can't tell the screen is on it, or the roof ECU is playing up?

Hi ~ any luck sorting your roof problem out yet?

I bought mine three days ago too and seem to have the same problem! Shelf in place, clips removed ~ Bong sound, lift the roof release button and...nothing ~ just bleeping noise! Grrrrrrrr

I think it may be a battery problem as i tried the white clips they are fine, it nly doesnt work if te battery light is on slightly when i turn the key so the lights come on, if it is on i drive up and down the road, turn the car off an try again and it seems fine, i think i have battery or connection probs not sure!!

I might have misunderstood so if I have sorry, but are you only trying to operate the roof when the ignition is off?

i did once before realising i was stupid lol

basically im turning the ignition so that the lights come on on the dash now sometimes i notice and i notice this even whe the key is not in that the battery light is on slghtly - very dull but it is on,

when this happens the roof doesnt work neitherdoes the central locking key however i drive up the road thenturn the ignition off, restart the car thelight is off and everything works so i am wondering if the car thinks there isnt enough power in the battery to lock or have roof down?

The problem is, you don't know the cars history do you. If your car had been standing unused for a spell, the battery could have run down. I take mine off the road for the coldest Winter months and it doesn't take long for the battery to flatten. It may just need a good run or it could be a sign that the battery needs replacing, hopefully it's not the alternator. I would see how it goes over the next week or so.

The car is 9 years old and if it still has its original battery then it is about due for a brand new one. The colder autumn mornings just round the corner will soon be sorting out the weaker batteries needing replacement.

ive realised i dont think its the battery...the ignition doesnt seem to shut off...i learnt this when i knocked the wipers and they came on! have to turn the key several times then the light goes off and its fine!

If you bumped the wipers within about 5 mins of taking the keys out, then that's normal - that's how the ignition works. Even after the key is taken out, the wipers will still work - the digital odometer stays on and when you hear the 'click', the odometer turns off and the wipers will no longer work. It's very hard to flatten the battery that way anyway because the car goes into Economy Mode after half an hour of the ignition being left on so the most likely solution at this stage is still the new battery suggestion. The sooner the better, my car had a dying battery and it causes phantom faults, and the resulting voltage spikes damage the very expensive ECU's in the car (including the roof ECU, hope that's not why your roof isn't working :S)

The battery light staying on, even faintly, is weird... That light is only ever on or off in mine and it's on if the engine isn't and something is drawing power....

dunno how there's a middle-ground with that lol

i will get a new battery, the light goes off if i turn the key on and off a couple times then itclicks, as long asthe light isnt on everything works fine!

ill get a battery on payday!

Tasha, if your battery light is staying on faintly, it might be worth a read of the following thread.

Might then be worth checking your brake fluid reservoir for leaks onto the alternator first.

Barring that, my money is still on the battery. If it is, the first frost of autumn will find it out. It won't start one cold morning.
