Hi everyone!!!
After my last problem and all the help that I recieved I have decided to post another problem to see if anybody can help me...
My previous problem was the sensor in the bonnet and now thats sorted another one was highlighted??
I will explain as best as possible!!!
When I drive my car short distances it re-starts (not had the problem yet)...But when I drive...well even 15 miles or so and stop at the shops etc then get in and try to start it the ignition just clicks?? I was on my way back from Wales stopped halfway for a "Shandy!" car would not start I telephoned the AA I was waiting about 20 mins re-tried and it worked so cancelled AA, on another occasion I was on my way back from Burton after 15 miles stopped for a paper would not start again :firedevil: telephoned the AA after about 30 mins and ten minutes before they said they would be there it Bluming Started. No turning of the engine , no spluttering, zilch...its like the powers off.
All my electrics work windows roof etc so I am inclined to say its not the battery.
Please any info I have to plan everything around this fact!!

Thankyou in advance!!! :love-thx:

I had this the day I bought my car this March. I took it on a 15 mile trip to nearest town, stopped at village bank on way back, wouldnt start, I waited about 20 minutes and started straight away.
I am sure some on here said it had soemthing to do with my cat convertor as I would occassionally get the engine diagnostic sign appear on trying to start it when it wouldnt start (if that makes sense) once it was started the engine diagnostic sign went off. Needless to say could be something entirely different to your car but sounded similar to what happened to me, had the whole exhaust including cat changed and has never happened since

Honey Badger,
If you've already checked all electrical connections to and from battery, starter motor and earth strap, then I'd suspect that your starter motor is on the way out. It is fairly common, especially with cars registered around 2004.
(Another possibility is the transponder ring that surrounds the ignition switch - usually on older cars I think).
If it is the starter motor then a new one is the answer.

Well after all answers I have carefully been monitoring my car!!! And this is what has happened today went 2 miles stopped car started 15 mins later started. Came home 2 miles stopped 40 mins car started to go out again drove 6 miles stopped for an hour car started on the 4th try, but on that try when it started all the displays had reset eg; date and time??? Then I travelled about 12 miles and stoppedd about ten mins if that, went to car to fetch jacket and thought "have a go??" car clicked then started on second try turned it off went to finish my drink and it would not start for about 20 mins even thought about phoning the "AA" but just when I thought that it STARTED!!! This is so frustrating....don't want to give peugeot my cash just to be hooked up to a diagnostics...wished it was much cheaper then put the other towards the repair!!!??? ANYBODY??? :lol2:

I suppose as nobody has been much assistance so far taking it to be hoocked up to diagnostic peugeot or otherwise is your last option, I suppose its always the case of getting it sorted early before doing any long term damage that can be more costly, I paid £42 for peugeot diagnostic and even if you can not afford for it to be fixed at least you will be more wiser to whats wrong, what needs fixing and either cough up or try solve it yourself or at an alternate garage

So....Your advise then take it to Peugeot?? When it first started happening my local garage hooked it up to Diagnostic and it showed no faults...when I put the first problem on here (when I came back from there) which was the beeping on locking car, someone advised that it had to be the bonnet sensor and "bang On" he was right!! But why wasn't my local garage able to see if they hooked up to diagnostics?? Don't understaand??...Just thought I would leave it till a last resort!! Thanks for your reply!!!

Honey Badger

My daughter is having the same problem, I took it to an auto electrician who could'nt find a fault so I gave in and took it to a Peugeot garage and after the diagnostic check they have said that the starter motor is taking too much from the battery to start hence draining the battery. Not changed yet so dont know if they are right but fingers crossed eh!

Hope this helps

I don't think a diagnostic check would help you. I still think the fault will be with your starter motor and that a new one will cure it. Assuming you have already checked the electrical connections as I suggested in post #3.

"Monitoring the car" won't cure it I fear.

As for not being of much assistance, what more do you expect?

This happened once with my CC shortly after I got it - I called the AA and the patrolman cleaned the battery contacts and it was then fine. Have had a new battery since then and no problems - touch wood!

Thanks Rob. I'm glad someone is backing me up!

Honey Badger hasn't said yet whether the connections have been checked.

Busy monitoring...

Hi Everybody... Fistly I have to say THANKS for all your replys!! And as GrandadMonkey so rightly says "Monitoring" my car was a pretty useless thing to do... :rotfl: I had had the car checked previously battery, hooked up to local garage diagnostics etc but my Mechanic could not find anything wrong. Anyway on Wednesday I took it in after about a 5 mile journey and asked him to look at it and the car started on the three following times I tried to start it, so we sat and had a chat about it and he said try it again so I did and it didnt start!! Hurrah! As he had previously said "I cant see what it is if it doesn't happen here" which is a fair comment I suppose.
Anyway it wouldn't start at all and had to leave it there for them to investigate. It is repaired now and was something to do with the "Starter Motor" and I am due to pick it up at half eight this morning "Fri" so I will let you know what it was later....I know its cost me £250 OUCH!! But hopefully it is solved.
Thanks again for all your help and I will post what exactly it was later!!

The last time I had problems with a starter motor I was told to give it a whack with a hammer, that usually sorted it!

Ha ha The Mechanic did try that!! I wondered what the hell he was doing but he looked at my shocked face and said "Trust Me!"
Well it didn't work anyway so ended up having a new one and touch wood.........Nope I'm not saying it!!!
