I am soooooo very stressed over this, please help me. I own a 52 reg, 1.6 206cc had it about 2 months. No warranty
Yesterday morning as I came to an uphill giveway the engine just cut out. It didnt show a fault on the screen or anything, it just lost all power and all of the other lights came on, like they do when you stall it.
It took about 5 tries to restart it again, by which time I was getting funny looks from people...lol
Anyway then I drove it again in the evening, for a short journey about 5 mins and it was fine.
However this morning as I was leaving for work it started up fine but literally just turning up my street on a slight uphill it cut out again. Same again, no faults just complete loss of power. This time though it wouldnt just start, I had to twist the key and hit teh accelarator at the same time, on the 5th or 6th attempt it started again.
Some history - back in Jan when the weather was snowy and cold, the car showed a fault code of air pollution, but the car worked fine.I ran it through the diagnostic machine and it said that the fault is something to do with a butterfly valve. The mechanic said that with it being an expensive repair, its best to wait and see if the fault comes up again as sometimes its just due to the cold weather messing with the system.
He reset the codes and it hasnt appeared since and car has run fine up until yesterday.
Also I dont know if this is relevant but the day before it first cut out (Saturday) I took the car for its first long drive about 50miles either way. It drove like a gem though...
Please can someone explain to me how bad this problem is and how much lighter I can expect my purse to be.
Thanks guys!
