Electrical 206CC problems

I have a 2000 1.4 GLX 206. Recently I have been experiencing problems with the electrics. Firstly, in cold weather my airbag light flashes, also I have lost my radio/cd/time display. Another problem I now get is that my left indicator just seems to start flashing as I am driving along- it also comes on every time I start up the car.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced these problems and whether its a simple fix or something that would cost alot. I am just concerned that this may lead to other electrical problems with windows and central locking!! Thanks for your help!!!

I am having just the same problems apart from the indicator. Last winter I spent £200 approx at a peugeot garage and it was fixed more or less. This winter it has all started again!! For me I believe it is because I hardly use it. My husband is going to try it for a week to and fro work to see if this helps. I will post again in a week.
Bad problem.

Cars do prefer to be used regularly. Keeps the battery topped up.

My car is off the road for a few months of the year and I have been looking into buying a one of these Ctek Multi XS3600 12V Battery Charger they constantly check the condition of your battery and top up as necessary. You can source them on ebay for £44.99 inc delivery...a lot cheaper than £200.

Other than that the manual suggests disconnecting the battery if the car is not being used for long periods of time.

The radio / time /date display unit on my 2001 2.0 SE is so dim i can barely read it. Is this unit part of the dash or can i easily fit a replacement ?

Perhaps i wasn't clear enough in my description. The radio itself is fine. My problem is the central display unit on the dash that shows you various data, outside temp. date etc. It looks like a dot matrix sort of display. Some of the dots making up the figures are missing, others are very very dim.

Hi Somerville 52 back on line,
Car has been fine while my husband has used it each day for an hour to and from work.
I will have a look at the battery charger idea, thanks. So far apart from the ease of use I can't see the difference between it and a larger charger. But will do a bit more research.
I was going to change the car as I will only ever use it 2 or 3 times a week in winter but if the little charger does the job then I will be a very happy pug owner.
Thanks again and for this great web site.

You're welcome. Thanks for providing feedback. Glad it was nothing serious. The special charger that Thar suggested is the proper type for cars that are little used, as it can be left attached for weeks on end with no adverse effects, unlike an ordinary charger.
