:firedevil:

I have just joined this forum because for the past 3 weeks I have been driving my 206cc with a persistant beeping - unless I am at traffic lights.

I called out the Green Flag as thought it was something dangerous, warning me to stop driving! He tried taking my roof down but then couldnt get it back on, so ended up doing it manually. Throughout I noticed the heated rear windscreen not working plus my windows stopped working. Green Flag man told me to take it to auto electrician.

£175 later and still beeping I was told to take to Peugeot dealer who would know exactly what it is. I called them and over the phone they quoted £600 + for a new control panel. Shocked I thought no way, my car is 2001 2.0 and has NEVER had any problems, it is so reliable and I travel 200 miles a day in it without any probs, well until recently! So I owed it to my car to get looking at it myself.

I then seached the internet and stumbled accross this forum and looked at the repair guide where it shows all the switches / catches / brackets etc that the roof needs to function in order to stop buzzing once up or down. So I linked all the problems together and came to conclusion the prob must be in my boot. Today I opened up the boot and saw the 2 white catches either side of the boot lid and noticed one catch had come off the metal hook. I got my hubby's pliers and put it back on the hook (you'll get what I mean if go look for these 2 white catches / hooks) and voila, heated rear windscreen started working and once I drove it the beeping was gone.

I just cannot believe after 3 weeks of almost going insane, spending money and time driving with my cd playing on full blast to disguise the deeping I go n fix it myself... well almost. This forum is fab, couldnt have really done it without your info!!

Cheers Forum peeps. Made my day.

:love-thx:

Girl power! I gave my baby a bit of TLC today. Silcon greased sprayed the rubber trim and disconnected the battery to stop it from draining whilst my car is off the road until Spring. I also changed the head lamp bulb in our other car yesterday. Not major tasks I agree but I thought to myself, what other women would do this? Now I know I'm not the only one that gets satisfaction from DIY car maintenance.!
