Hi All
I've just got a 206cc which I lurve!!!! I've been reading lots of posts with interest (and amusment:)) and the posts on keys with particular interest.
Mine came with only one key and no key code card. I'd like to get another key made and Pug are quoting around £150 to buy, cut and program both the new and old key.

Knowing what ripoff merchants dealers are (I avoid them as much as poss and do most of my car maintenance myself - Bless Haines manuals!)...
I was wondering if I can buy the new key myself and get it cut, then take everything to them for programming to make a saving? Has anyone found this a possible or cheaper route?
I've got a 2001 (Y) car with the two button plip remote.
I'd really appreciate any help y'all can give.:love-thx:

Charlotte.

My other car's a 1970 Morris Traveller 'Emily'

PS No idea why this ended up in ICE! Sorry!

Welcome to the forum.
Topic moved from ICE to discussion.

I would use my Peugeot main agent to get an additional key.

none remote key is easy.get a blank from dealer, get local keycutter to copy your spare.
main dealer will have to code both keys and youll need transponder code. 4 digit number on a credit card style thing :)

Ta Reap.
You must get sick of us newbies (and I've only just begun....)
Do I still need to get the key coded even if it has no remote???? Or were you planning ahead for when I get a new remote key??!!!

I haven't got the key code so i'll eventually have to fork out the £20 or so for a search too, prior to getting a new remote key programmed.

I love my Morris Traveller, it only came with one key so I cast another one out of chrome! (I'm a dental technician) Simple!

Fortunately your Morris Traveller didn't come with an immobiliser so it doesn't need transponder codes. Simple yes, it just had to be the right shape.

Bet your chrome key looks a real work of art.

The mog key is approximately the right shape but it works...bless simple cars!

Sorry Reap
Re the keys - I'm baffled now. So a non-plip key won't even start the car unless THE CAR is programmed???!!!

Correct. It will turn the ignition but the immobiliser will not be turned off.

As I said in post #2, I would use my Peugeot main agent to get an additional key.

Much the simplest solution.
