Hi all,

I bought a 2000 206ccd 2.0 last october. All seems fine and great, my gf only does about 8 miles a day in it. However a few weeks back it cut out my gf was doign about 30mph and all cut out no power. She stopped re-started it and fine! We then took it for a longer drive to family in b ham a couple of weeks later and again all good.

NOW it has done it again this morning when she was parking - re started all good again! The one thisng we have noticed is the oil temp gauge does not want to rise!? It moves a litlle but only in the longer journey!

Any ideas help please? I am reluctant to take this to peugeot to plug into a diag machine with whta i have read so far

Could be several things but with a 2.0 petrol it could be symptomatic of the dreaded hydraulic tappet problem. When was the oil and filter last changed? With the history of short (and therefore cold) runs the emulsifying oil will clog up the oilways quickly.
I would carry out an oil and filter change immediately if it hasn't been done in the last 6 months. Use the specified oil and a genuine filter.
If that cures the problem, continue to carry out oil and filter changes twice as often as it says in the manual. Also try to give the car a longer run at least once a week to get it thoroughly warmed up.
Good luck, Ron

Hi,

Thank you for replying.:)

I have the car booked in for a service this wednesday. They will carry out oil and filter change too.

I hope this will sort the problem they are going to plug it in and see if there are any other reported errors. would it not be noisy if the hydraulic tappets were going?

Fingers crossed!

Also the cam belt has not been done yet only done 35k though what would be yoru thoughts on this? The mechanic has told me he woudlnt bother with the milleage its done and will check the condition of the belt at the service.
