Must have been the clutch unless you were scrubbing the tyres at speed. Expensive if you do it often Yvonne. A new clutch fitted isn't cheap! Use a different carpark, or your handbrake, in future.
Our 206cc hates tight multistoreys. The front tyres scraunch and squeal on full lock - must be the steering geometry. Our Golf Estate handles them better and makes no noise from the tyres.

I'll be 60 this year and I never stop learning. No shame in that. At least your clutch is still working and you know not to do it again. I've never worn a clutch out in my life and I hope never to do so. Replaced a few though on bangers I've bought in the past (cheap because their clutches had gone), and on my young son's Nova about 4 years ago.
Happy motoring, and a Happy New Year to you Yvonne.
