I know that roof can be lowered ( or is it raised ?) in an emergency by following a proceedure, part of which requires a tug on the string/cord that is found in the boot.

Question is, just what is the cord actually pulling on? I looked to see what it might be (expecting a hydraulic piston) but am baffled as it appears to pull on a solid immovable bar close to the cord "handle" .

hmm ?

any ideas?

Do not worry. From what I remember it is just used to hold the plastic cover when removed for roof maintenance or repair. Tuck it back in and forget about it.
