My daughters car of 3 weeks has a small leak on the roof hinge section, but this is not the problem.I raised the roof up about half way then turned off the ignition, then got out to have a look. Then the roof slowly began to close up into the boot, I turned on the engine to raise the roof nothing happens. I dont get any beeps or dings or dongs or buzzes i get no noises at all,Ive read a lot of the roof problems on the forum but my problem is i cant lift the boot upper lid. Ive moved the white U pins to release the catches but there is a lot of pressure on the boot upper lid hinges and i dont want to force anything. I dont have the long allen key thats mentioned so i cant release the hydraulic pressure If ineed the allen key, what size is it and hoe long does it need to be. My daughters on hols at the moment and will kill me for messing on with her car when she comes home. Please help a desparate dad.

Most problems with the roof are self-inflicted!
Your mistake was turning off the ignition.
In fact your biggest mistake was probably touching the car at all....
The roof mechanism no longer knows where it is. You will need to do a full reset.
Our moderator "reap" has explained in detail how to do this and I suggest you search through his posts in the "roof" section to find it.
You will need the long allen key which is normally to be found in the polystyrene case which holds the tyre repair aerosols - in the boot.....
The allen key is 4mm A/F from memory, and about 170mm long on one end, and 50mm long on the other.
Good luck! You'll need it. I hope you paid for your daughter's holiday !!!
