Need help please. The roof on my 206 wont open, I took it to pug and they said it was the pump and would cost me 1000. I don't believe its the pump cause the roof will open sometimes and not others. I think the fault is intermitant cause I only get the beeping noise now and again. When I pull the shelf out and undo the clips I don't getting a beep to tell me things are ok, then if I try the roof button nothing happens, close everything then I get the really annoying beeping for a day or so then it goes off and still the roof want open. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I hate that beeping noise. :) :)

Same issue as I'm having maybe we can sort this out!!

My roof won't go down.
With the blind in place nothing happens.
Retract the blind and I get the warning bleep sound.

I've been told by Peugeot (over the phone) that it could be the roof catches. I don't think it is because if you leave them open, switch off and open the door you get the warning bleep. I guess from this you know that the micro switches work.

Looking back over the last few months when I've driven this car the warning bleep has sounded but without touching any of the switches. I suspect the problem is electrical, I hope so as I've just mentioned to my girlfriend (who owns this car) about the hydraulic pump cost!!

I've started a thread on this problem about 10 days ago but no one seems to have replied. Perhaps we can sort this out between us.

If we can sort this out together that would be fab. Like you I don't have to touch that damn switch for that really irritating beep to go off for days. I'm taking the car into a garage on Tuesday and hes going to check all the wiring and switches and things but he isn't a peugeot dealer so I dont know if he will be able to give me an answer at the end of the day. One thing he is, is genuine so if he doesn't find anything on tuesday I know he will keep trying. I'll let you know if I hear anything on Tuesday but if you hear any suggestions sooner then let me know.

Cheers

Cool, my local Peugeot dealer was completely useless, although I was trying to get information from them for free!

Took the car to the garage and unfortunately he couldnt fix it but what he did do was introduce me to his mate that only deals with pug 206cc and he is booked up till april 4 just fixing roof. Ive managed to get my car booked in to diagnose the problem which he is positive will be a micro switch, so its going in on the 28 of March so hopefully I can tell you then what wrong with it, one good thing he is less that half the price of pug. :) :) :)

Hoping that we have a similar issue and once solved, if you could find out the part no. I would be very grateful.
If I find anything out I'll keep you updated.

I'll get him to write it all down for me because I havent got a very good memory and then I can post it all on hear. Although saying that he should give me the diagnostic print out been as I'm paying for it.

Yo Simes
Took the car to the garage on friday and it turns out that it is the micro switches, three of them to be exact, basically because mine is 2001 the two micro switches either side of the boot lid are connected to the micro switch in the boot catch, so if one isnt working all three show as an error. The guy in the garage bypassed the switches and got the roof to work no problem at all, so it goes to show pug garage lied about the pump. The three switches, labour and the testing all in all is going to cost about £250 which is peanuts compared to £1500 which is what pug garage told me it would cost for the pump. Its booked in for next monday so I shall be topless for the summer.

Well done swinter. Perhaps your feedback will help Simon with his roof too.
Thanks for posting the result as it will help others on the forum.

Brilliant news, I don't suppose you were able to get part nos?
I've had a look through http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com to find the parts and numbers but it's a little unclear.
If not I'll wait for the car to return so I can pull it apart!

Not unheard of about Peugeot (read: any main dealer) solving problems by making you spend the most. I once had my 205 MOT'd by Pug about 8 years ago. They found that the N/S rear caliper wasn't working. They offered to fix it for £260. I took it home dismantled it, found it was actually the £35 rear compensator and changed it myself.

Thanks again, thats good news.

EDIT: Bit of a diagram for future ref

Well done to Simes and Swinter, enjoy the summer !

Tracy, if they system is activating it could be the manual boot catches (the infamous white clips)

When you activate the roof, does the boot lid open after the windows retract?? If not, check the 2 white loops in the corner of the boot lid are securely in the 'automatic' position (Part 52 in this pic)

Make sure they are in the 'Up' position and fully pressed in

As long as water isn't falling out of the sky, the roof can be down.
