Hello All,

My mum has a 2001 CC, recently the roof switch handle broke, so I ordered a new one from Pug which has turned up however it's the entire switch, opposed to the just the plastic handle section! My question is do I just pop the plastic handle of the new one and attach it to the old switch or just replace the entire switch, if it is the replacing the entire switch option, then how do I get the switch out? Is there any nice step my step guides out there?

It would be great to get an answer quickly as I planned to fit the switch tonight after work so she can use her roof again.

Cheers
Dan

Don't know how to take apart that part of the car, but if the broken part is only a piece of plastic then replace the piece of plastic.

Thanks for the reply. I fitted the new switch last night and it took all of 2 mins, the plastic surround is not screwed in to the centre console, all you need to do is get a screw driver in the end near the rear seats and gently slide it forward towards the dash approximately 2cm and it comes free, the switch can be done be unclipped (two clips, front and back) from the fascia, pull the base socket away from the old switch where the cables connect, slot the new switch into the fascia and re-connect it to the socket with the wiring, give it a good push until it clicks and then refit the fascia to the centre console, put the end nearest the handbrake in first and it’s job done. Cost me £33 inc VAT. Happy times!
