Sounds like an issue I had with my 205, which turned out to be a duff battery, but it could be the starter motor or solenoid from the sound of it.
There is also a common issue the widget around the ignition key barrel. I think it’s called an Ariel transponder. If you remove the lower part of the steering wheel housing you should see a black plastic ring around the ignition barrel and it links in to the immobiliser, but I am pretty sure the starter motor still turns with this issue though, it just doesn’t fire up, but worth checking as they are only about £10.

same problem here, just bought a new battery and that did not fix it. Did you fix your problem Nat and how many mileage do you have?nat1983 wrote:SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!! I would first check leads from battery and to starter motor. Check for tightness, no cracks, and for cleanliness (no build up of corrosion). If suspect take the leads off the terminals, clean them up and refit them. Any cracks in the lead terminal then renew the lead.
If all ok with leads/connections then get battery checked, although the onset of cold weather in autumn usually sorts out batteries which are on their way out.
If none of above then suspect starter motor / solenoid.
