No, it's not a bug.

When you walk away from your car when the lights are on, does anyone else keep looking over their shoulder just to make sure they switch off?

I sure do the looking over my shoulder thing! The day I return to my car and find a flat battery, I won't be the only one having a bad day...I'll be making sure that someone at peugeot does too!

I'm very curious to see how the 'is it a bug, isn't it a bug' thing develops,

It's not a bug because it's intended behaviour - it's been designed to do that. Ask your local friendly dealer - one that knows what they're talking about, obviously.

That's the whole point of having multiplex systems. New features can be added just with a software download.

My local Pug dealer rang the factory, I was told this by the garage's chief mechanic, who I spent nearly 40mins with discussing problems with my car.

Now if it is an enhancement, why tell me its a bug when Im discussing rejecting the vehicle. What I did ask him at the start of this conversation is that I want him to be honest with me and then we can work together to sort all the problems out.

This why I still believe its a bug, but as I have also said, it can be treated as enhancement also.

At the end of the day, it is what it is, a 30 second delay from locking the vehicle.

But if you are going to disagree (going back to you 1st reply), at least back up your statements with reasons. Maybe you should contact your local Pug dealer, one that knows what there talking about.....obviously, and ask them. :(

PS My original account (Sam1974) will not let me log on, so I have had to set up another one :( .

whether it's a bug or it isn't a bug - it's a bit naive to convince yourself that it is "your" dealer that is correct and the other one is wrong.

they all say what suits them and it can be a downright lie, what they believe to be true or actually the truth.

You could always call Pug customer relations on 02476 884000 and check if you want.

Let's put it this way. Do you not think they'd have noticed this rather obvious bug when they tested it? It's a safety/security/nice-to-have feature. Many cars have it now.

Hi again :(

No it is a bug.

And no Derek I am not naive, but thx for lowering the tone to name calling :( .

Alex do you really think Peugeot PR machine are going to admit to there being faults on the car except for the safety recalls????

At the end of the day this my opinion, which I am entitled to, people who read what I think, have there own right to make their own conclusions.

Regrdless of what label you want to give it, this is how the car works now. So I dont really see much point in posting anything more on the matter.

If it was a bug, they'd have noticed it in testing.

"Hey! The lights are still on!"

"Oh yeah, hang on a mo..."

<tappity tap>

"Try that."

"Yeah - fixed."

It's not a bug. If you really want to think of it as a bug, you do so. Meanwhile, the rest of us will carry on safe in the knowledge that it is an enhancement - the whole reason for having a multiplex system in the first place.

Well,

mine turn off when I lock the car(June 2002 multiplex) and I believe this is how the lights should work.

Additionally, once you turn off the engine (lights still on) if you flick the keys from off to ignition the lights turn off(they do in mine)....

Mind you..if I have high beams enabled, the lights stay on????? and I can also turn on the foglights without turning on the main or side lights...

Shit...I just managed to confuse myself completely.

Mine stay on after I lock the car for 45 seconds (Dec 2002 multiplex). The manual says that they should go off after locking, but they don't.

Also noticed that about the full beam. And when I turn my front fogs on, my sidelights come on.

Looks like each car is programmed differently. No problem though, as it makes them more unique. Oh the joys of multiplex! Just don't get talking about multiplex & car audio...
