Thanks for that Rachel. Glad to know the new starter motor cured it. We knew it would, even though your mechanic was sceptical.

Re: won't start when hot
Hi. Just thought I would add to this thread in case any searches for the same problem as original poster and comes across this discussion. I had the same problem and this thread helped me sort it out.
My car had the same issues, starts fine when cold but after a 25+ min journey the car won’t restart. Just one click upon turning the ignition. I took to my mechanic and suggested starter motor. He did diagnostics, traced and checked all electrics etc. No fault found! Starter motor fine apparently! I went back to drawing board (searching google) for any other causes. Crank angle sensor came up as one so I took the car back and asked for it to be renewed. Also for good measure got a new battery and fan belt!
Problem STILL happened!! Went back for a final time ( was gonna push it off a cliff a this point) and told the mechanic about my Internet findings and to change the starter motor.
He put a new one in and also renewed the wire from it to the battery.
It’s been a week, I have done multiple journeys each day. ITS FIXED. It’s all thanks to this forum. Thank you thank you thank you.
