I am thinking of buying a 206cc as I love convertibles and the 206cc is a great looking car.
I'm fed up with having a leaky soft top and taking the hard top on and then off and on and off (good old english weather!) so the 206cc is perfect as its a hardtop!
But then I found this forum and after reading through all the problems, leaks and electrical, I don't feel very confident about buying one. :/
Has anyone got a 206cc without a problem roof?
Also the problems that you have are they pretty easy/cheap to solve and do they reoccure once they have been sorted??

We have an 05 1.6 Allure and have never had a problem with the roof.
I believe that many roof problems can be self-inflicted by not following the opening and closing procedure correctly.
I would say buy as new as you can afford. Older ones may have wear in the mechanism or controls, sloppiness in the sensors, and leaky seals.

Yes I heard the earlier ones had problems but I can't find out what years were classed as early - did newer ones have less problems or is it simply that they would have had less wear on the mechanisms?
They can be expensive to put right if they go wrong as it would seem that Peugeot dealers take advantage of their "intellectual knowledge".

I have a 2001 2.0, It has never leaked at all (maybe because I wipe the rubber seals every fortnight with a silicone spray) and the only trouble I've had with the roof was the sensor sticking which was replace this year I kept the old sensor and noticed it had dust on it when I cleaned it of it seems to work fine, so I now have a spare sensor in case I need it.
Hope now I've said this I do not get any problems.
I had an 04 which had a very slight leak on the drivers side. At the same time I noticed that the door looked a bit sunken by a few milimetres. The door was realigned and it never leaked again.
It may be worth checking the alignment of the doors before buying one. Or go shopping on a rainy day.
I think the concensus was that cars with plates 53 and newer were less problematic regarding the roof.
Remember that any forum on the Internet attracts people who have problems with their vehicles. Therefore reading any forum about any vehicle always paints a story of a catalogue of problems and issues.
People who have no problems with the car do not post messages saying - "Everything fine today/this week/this month"
As with any used car purchase make sure you try it out. Move the roof up and down a few times, ask lots of questions to the owner. Does the roof show signs of being used a lot? Are there oily finger marks on the trim panels around the roof mechanism (attempted repairs) - Has the Allen key for the manual override been used (marks on the key and key slot in the boot?

Should be in the polystyrene box in the boot which also contains locking wheel nut socket, tyre inflator repair aerosols and removal tool for shiny plastic wheel nut covers.

I had an 03 and the roof didn't leak on that either, however because there was no sill for the accumulated water to run into from the roof, when you opened the door, it did drip onto the seats and the person getting out! Later 206cc's had an additional trim fitted to make roof water run down the front and rear screens, the 207cc now has both a proper sill and the windows retract slightly as you open the doors (and go up slightly just after you shut the doors) to provide a better seal. On the 206cc the glass had to be relied on to slide under a seal, which it didn't always do.
