hi, i bought my 2004 1.6 allure model on the 2nd april this year from my local peugeot dealer, three weeks later i hd to take it back for new brake pads, but then on thursday last week, it broke down on me. i had it towed back to the dealership. i went in to see what was happening and they were blaming me for putting diesel in my petrol car (1 - i have never owned a diesel so would never have picked up that pump, and 2 - it wouldnt have fitted anyway), then the finally worked out that the air filter has been sucking up water......is this normal????? am now screwed as the car needs a whole new engine.....and they wont help at all. many thanks x

The air filter takes it's air from fairly low down in the engine bay i think, but it's not normal for it to suck in water otherwise all our cars would be dying. Have you driven through any puddles, shallow or deep recently?

I think the underside of the car would have to be submerged for the air filter to swallow water, sounds like a peugeot fobbing you off deal to me.

You are not the only one
e.g. http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?id=3415

I have heard of air filter housing not being put back together properly after filter replacement, and of rainwater being directed into the air intake.

May find it on the www.206info.co.uk forum if you do a search. I remember this one which seems similar to your problem:

Sorry to hear of your trouble, difficult to prove fault I guess, unless it had just been serviced?

Best Wishes,
Ron
