I own a 206 cc for 5 years now. Did not intend to buy a 206cc/207cc, was thinking of a 2nd hand TT. But I saw the 207cc this week, what a beauty

I bought one a few weeks back and am very pleased. I had a 206cc for 4 years and was very pleased with it but to me the 207cc is a great progression with some really good gadgets added and is altogether more refined. The switchgear feels a lot higher quality, the ride is better both roof up and down, and it's miles more comfortable than the 206cc ever was. I test drove the 207cc and loved it but what sold it was how much more comfortable it was over the 206cc.
The 150 THP 1.6L engine is beautiful and is more responsive than the 206cc but at the expense of economy I guess. Though the car is new so it's hard to tell, I did 35mpg on a 100 mile trip mostly motorways with sensible non turbo driving, around town it drops to around 28 with turbo use, which is still pretty good I guess.
I was sad to hand over the 206cc as it's given me 4 years trouble-free service but the 207cc takes over from where it left off.
Well pleased

Is the power steering better than in the 206 cc?
I find the PS of the 206 not that strong. Alo, my car is not *that* stiff, how is the stiffness? What about the electronic windows, do they go up faster now?
Is it really a class higher like saying it's almost a 307 ride?
In Holland the price is 20% higher than the price I paid when I bought my 206cc 5 years ago, so I have to add quite some money (inflation was in Holland no more than 8% in the last 5 years all together).
From what I have seen the car looks bigger and better but luckily it does not look like the 307cc, I don't like that car.

I just saw you already own a 206cc. What I noticed:
Seats much more comfortable
Better acceleration (comparing 2.0L CC to the 1.6L 150 THP)
Better gearbox (more positive, less throw)
Power steering just right, light when parking but heavier at speed
Great stereo, plays MP3's, wished I'd had the bluetooth option added
More positive switchgear, separate left/right temperature controls
No clips to depoy the roof.
Centre display give much more information
Reversing aid/parking aid (bit sensitive though, 20cm is continuous alarm)
Adjustable steering wheel
Boot unlock on keyfob, yay!!!
Directional headlights, odd at first but is really useful now I'm used to it
Less gubbins in the boot to do with the roof, very clear and plenty of room
Auto dimming rear view mirror, thought it was gimmicky, but actually really good
Window controls on the door now not in the middle
Windows rise slightly as you close the door to seal properly
Door sills and gulley so you don't get soaked getting out in the rain
Fitted mats
Bad points
More storage - really tiny glovebox (the fuse box takes up at least half the space)
Automatic/variable speed wipers gone, just intermittant and 2 speed now
Wider and longer doors makes it hard to get in/out of in cramped car parks
Drivers window will not close fully automatically (nanny state regulations?!)
Nice to have a 6 speed gearbox, though still quieter in 5th at 130km/h than 206cc
The wind deflector when it appears will be £160!

Steering is lighter than 206cc when parking but offers resistance when driving. Yes the 207cc is stiffer and doesn't twist as much with the roof down when driving along bumpy roads. The electric windows seem faster, they used to labour on the 206cc to make it all the way to the top...
I've never tried a 307, but you should take a test drive to see, I also do not like the styling of the 307cc which I expect is a lot slower.
Over here there's not any real difference between what I paid four years ago and now, about £18000 with the full leather and metallic paint. That probably means it was too expensive then, and it's too expensive now, but it's a very nice luxury to have

thanks, I am really considering buying one. The car just looks so nice. What colour did you have and what colour now? I own the silver one and I think the new silver one looks the best but the darker grey one is also nice and would add a bit of change.slimgym wrote:I just saw you already own a 206cc. What I noticed:

I had Aegean Blue and went for the Thorium Grey as this one.
I was happy with any colour except the green - but the dealer had this one in stock with leather so I collected it within a week. In a way it helped to take that decision away, I wouldn't have known which way to go. I test drove in an Asmara Red which was also a great looking colour. The Neysha Blue is similar to Aegean Blue and a great looking colour also.

To correct myself, checked the manual for the 207cc, and the intermittent wipers wipe dependent upon the speed of the car. The 206cc ones used to speed up as the rain got heavier, on the 207cc they speed up as you go quicker. It seems to work as well as the old system in all but the heaviest rain.

Agh! Probably like the windows too, they don't go all the way up when you pull the control to its second position like they used to on the 206cc, now they stop after a few cms
I'm not sure why they don't trust you with being able to control things like this. There are a few configurable options within the menu system like turning on and off the directional headlights, this kind of thing ought to be user-configurable within the same system.
I guess they're afraid someone will catch their fingers in the windows, or get hit by a rogue wiper, and take them to court...

I've never owned a 206cc (my last Peugeot was a 1.1 205 style), but I just bought a 207cc, and I have to say I agree with everything I've read. It's a fantastic little car. I wouldn't rate it as highly as an mx5 in terms of a pure drivers car, but it's so close that the extra practicallity of a larger boot, hard top and rear seats (even though they are small), more than makes up the difference. I'm loving the strong mid-range punch, but it could do with a little more right down low, and right up top. It's going to take me a while to get used to the ESP slowing me down, but that's probably a good thing. It might get annoying if I take it to a track for a good blast.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the overspeed warning chime? See my post in electrical.

I was hoping a software change might help out at the low end, I found I used to pull away as I would have done in the 2.0L engine and there's bugger all acceleration until you hit 1500rpm. Sometimes the acceleration is pitiful (usually when you most need it!) but sometimes it's ok, I tend to drive a little more higher revs now when pulling off to ensure the turbo is in.
Don't have the overspeed warning on mine, I think it's an option with the criuse control, it's covered in the manual somewhere. I think Lyndon has put it online, I uploaded the PDF of it here.

Yes, keeping the revs up a little definately helps. I live in Dubai, so have the UAE spec model. It doesn't have cruise control, but anything over 120kph makes it start beeping like crazy. In typical UAE fashion the instructions in the manual don't match the actual controls. The manual talks about a speed limiter rather than a warning beep. I've had it up to 175kph, and haven't found a limiter yet, but it sure does beep.
Where can I find that online manual? It might be worth a look...
