Hello everyone,
i'm a new member at your forum. In 2001 i bought my 206cc, unfortunately since then i have had many problems with my 206. most of them are done but there is just one that still pisses me off all the time!!!
The engine without any reason doesn't start up, the ignition system is ok but no starting up. I visited many garages, each of them had a different opinion. some said it's a sensor, others the central processor, immobilizer etc. After visiting the garages the car worked fine for few days, and then same again. Finally i discovered that if i pulled out the battery cable for 2-5 minutes and then plug it again the car had no problem. So everytime the engine won't start, i pull the battery cable out and plug it again in order to go to my job.
It sounds funny but it isn't, because if i go to the garage again i have to pay a fortune, here in greece Garages is like a VIP service!!

thank you all i hope you got some ideas.

every time you pull the battery lead off you run a very real risk of frying your ecu with back emf,i suggest you dont do it. :)
sounds like to me that the transponder ariel around the ignition barrel is knackered. tis will stop your car starting if goes faulty. :)

yes .tis to do with imobilizer.its around the ignition barrel.it basically reads the unique code your key gives off when you start the car.if it not working correctly ,then car wont start. :)

Hi All,

Well I am VERY new to the world of PEUGEOT CC. I bought mine on 14th March (private sale 2002 reg) Silver.

I have this same problem(engine starts sometimes) and want my first service to be with a peugeot dealer - doea anyone know any in South east Kent, near Ashford? It has 38,000 miles and hasnt had a proper Peugeot service since its first owner in 2002! I also have the spanner & airbag light on constantly (The previous owner said he did his own services so the spanner-symbol wasnt re-set).

Also another thing - where do I get hold of the gas canisters for the tyres (Does anyone carry a spare tyre with them? If so where do you put it?

Sorry there are so many questions- I have always wanted one of these cars and now I have one - want the proper care for it!

Holts Tyreweld most car accessory spares shops.
Try Wilco, Halfords etc.
http://www.motosave.co.uk/motosave/html/holts1.html
Wilco: 300 ml Aerosol £6.59, 400 ml Aerosol £8.99.
We carry a space saver spare with our 206cc. Fits in the boot under the pullout blind so ok with roof up or down. If we need the boot for bulky items we belt the space saver spare into one of the rear seats under the windstop where it can't be seen.
Can't advise about a dealer down your way but I'm sure someone will come on line and mention somewhere.
Welcome to the forum by the way, nice to have you with us.

Thanks GRANDAD Monkey
I first joined this website in 2004 !!! And three years on, I finally get my CC! Im dedicated to my cause :)
I think Ill get a space saver for the boot - feel better with a spare to hand. Unlike many young female drivers(& male actually) - I can change tyres.

I think I remeber someone mentioning MAIDSTONE dealers when I first posted on here - so may see if they are still around (both the dealer & the member).

The sun is just starting to come out and Im off work - so think the MOOG & I may go for a spin somewhere .

Thanks for your post.

Hi,

I've had a similiar problem to this recently. When i get out of my car for a short period of time then get back in, it doesnt start!! It turns over but wont start at all!
I found that if I wait a few mins (or until I hear the click sound) it is fine & starts again.
Spoke to the dealers regarding this & they said it may be the immobiliser but sometimes it starts with no problems! I think my car has a mind of its own sometimes!!!:/

Hi Ex-Rover, my local dealer is Rootes Maidstone and they have been great every time ive been there. They have been taken over now though so it's called Robins Day, and I don't know if anything has changed down there... hopefully not!

Holts tyreweld doesnt fit into the foam pack found in the boot of the CC by the way. It's probably worth taking the old pack out (put back when selling the car) and carrying holts with you as the pug stuff is useless. (Tried it and didnt work) :(

You should be able to reset the service indicator, I found this on the Peugeot manual website (http://public.infotec.peugeot.com). Button 1 as described is the button between the speedo and temperature gauges.

If you carry out the service
yourself, the reset procedure is as
follows:
– Switch off the ignition.
– Press and hold button 1.
– Switch on the ignition.
The display begins a 10 second
countdown.
– Keep button 1 pressed for 10
seconds.
The display shows [=0] and the service
symbol disappears.
