I would like to alter my tick over (idle) has i think it is to low if the markers are 250 each on the rev counter my idles at 700 because i am sure it use to be 750 and now it ticks over a bit lumpy but when it is cold its fine so can anybody tell me how to alter the tick over please ???

you have a 206? doubt if its got a carb....no is the answer, you cant change the idle speed of your car.tis all ecu controlled.it is calculated by a number of things (ie) engine temp, engine loading, aircon on,etcetc.if you turn that factory set screw(throttlestop)you will make your car go crazy.it willl make throttle positon sensor read wrong, stepper motor will lose its timing and engine will run rich and generaly run like poo. dont do it..
most cars will happy idle at 700rpm,this is normal.when engine cold, the ecu will use an enrichment map which will make the idle rpm increase to between 850ish to 1500rpm.
summary...screw turning very bad
if car stalling? get it plugged in.if not leave well alone.

Hi
The car is 206cc 2001 2ltr it does idle at 700 and higher when cold , i thought it was a carb because of the round flap that turns with the cable.
The problem is when it is warm it feels a bit lumpy sometimes as if the idle is to low but has never stalled on idle, but when cold on idle and when driving warm and cold its perfect.
Could it be because at the moment here in france the weather is warm and sunny but in shade very cold so the car thinks its warm when its not so it drops the idle speed and now my job is 10mins drive away so the car is just starting to be warm as i reach work , could that be the cause of the lumpy idle or is it something different ?
Thanks for the response
PS i will leave well alone i think thats good advise !!!!
