Hi there

Currently looking to buy a 206 GTI and prices seem to be cheaper than i expected. Have seen a few 2000 models for around £2000, there also seem to be a load up for auction that are not even reaching anywhere near that price. So i'm thinking what's wrong with them... high insurance, poor reliability, high running costs? Would really like one but if there are not too good then would i be better going for something like the HDI version or even maybe a 1.6 quicksilver? Defianately need something just a little sporty out of the range. any advice greatly appreciated, don't want to be buying a duffer if possible.

Thanks.

206GTi is the same as a 2.0SE CC so it's a pretty decent car.

There won't be any more problems than a Peugeot normally gets but they aren't any worse than most manufacturers.

I thin there are some GTi / ex GTi owners on the forum so hang around and see what they say.

Prices sound pretty good. High insurance will only be a factor depending on your age/driving experience. My car is group 19 but I only pay £470 a year which isn't bad.

I see you have posted the same question over at PGAC. You will get a better response there as there are more owners where the majority on here are CC or ex CC owners.

Ca't believe you are paying that - u r very lucky.

Although it was modified, I was paying £630 for the CC although I did have 3 points for SP30. That was with full protected NCD. I was about 29 at the time.

Not too bad on the 350Z, paying £469 with the g/f on the policy although she got a speed camera fine through today so that might affect me come renewal time :(
