Hi all
Its pretty much done! I have spent ages doing this and really pleased with the results. There is more to do, but its just niggly things. I bought this bodykit for £290 on eBay (including the rear spoiler) which had come off another car which was blue. Its hard to believe now that it was ever on another car. I got it back yesterday and i am over the moon with it! The interior has the TV / DVD dash (yet to fit the 8" sunvisor LCD screens) and chromed everywhere I can (Check out the heating controls!) and everything now all lights up in blue at night rather than orange.
I could only find it on eBay and had it imported from Japan. It cost me only £130 and it arrived in 3 working days. Its a great little unit. Has an inbuilt TV tuner, DVD player, DviX, MP3, WMA, FM/AM Radio and of course, CD. It also has 2 Video in and Audio in RCA connections. The head unit is quite big and i had to cut away the bottom of the dash to get it in, but as you can see, its a great fit now. The picture quality is really good too! My only critisism is the buttons are too small but it does have a remote you can use instead. It also lights in blue hence why I changed all my dashboard and LCD units to light in blue too!
Thanks! It already has 17" alloys on. I thought about lowering it (I even bought the springs!) but the front bumper is already so low, I can't take it any lower! I really like my wheels so I won't be changing them. I just need to fit the 15mm dspacers on the rear to pull them out a bit.
You see them all the time on eBay so I'd suggest you look there for a bargain. If not, breakers yards. There's a great site for searching for breakers yards parts called www.breakeryard.com
Hi again. I bought the same unit that you have and the connections are all individual wires Ive never wired up a stereo and don't know where to start, the instructions are useless and I can't find any info googling
Do the wires go individually into the connectors behind the dash? and if so do you know which colours match as they all seem to be different!
Someone has mentioned using a hardwire ISO... is that how to do it??
Yep, there are a lot of wires there! I wouldn't recommend hardwiring it as then, you can't easily remove it if you have to. I bought the 2 connections (the same plugs on the back of the standard 206 radio) from a car audio specialist in Milton Keynes for £5. Then I removed the standard radio and basically touched each wire onto the sockets until I got power. Then I did the same with the speakers, although the colour coding made that obvious. The wiring diagram in the manual is good, so dont ignore it. Once I had found everything, I simply soldered the wires to the two new plugs I bought and then insulated them, and bingo, I can just plug the new stereo in and out as I could the old one. Ignore the wire on the new stereo that hads the fuse. Also, there is another one I think that I ignored which says in the manual is the "brake wire". I can't remember what colour but if you wire that up, the TV won't work with the handbrake down. You will also lose your steering radio controls but that doesn't bother me.
Just a tip, if you have any RCA composite leads hanging around (the white, red and yellow video leads) plug those in to the AUX input at the back of the new stereo and feed them into your glovebox. You may not want to use them immediately, but I bet you will in the long run. I found a use for mine. i tried using Digital Freeview but that didn't work, so now I am fitting a slimline PS2 instead! I do have the 8" sunvisor screens too which helps play games. Just need to ft them!
Hi there Loving The Side Skirts, the whole kit to behonest its what ive been looking for, for my new pug ive just bought, any ideas on what type the body kit is and who it made by?
The body kit is the Ibherdesign Peugeot 206cc 'Runner' Wide Arch Body kit. I'm not sure how much new but I got it for £290 off eBay 2nd hand with the spoiler.
Dan, no worries. If you need any more helpwith the stereo, just let me know...
I wouldn't know their website, as I said, I got mine off eBay so I'm not really sure where you can buy these kits. I think I have seen them on eBay in the past though. Just do a search and see...
Got it all installed now thanks!!! although its got a few teething probs, the main one being the loud background interference noise! I think something is set wrong but I cant find where to change it. :x
Also "invalid key" comes up a lot pressing a lot of the buttons. Does that happen on yours?
