Hi all, has anyone else got the problem of a flopping sun visor. It's basically now resting about an inch below where it's supposed and over time, it's getting worse. I've taken the sun visor off to look at it, but can't work out whether it's the visor, or the "stick" that's screwed to the roof.

It's getting a pain now as if when I drive it I lean forward, I'm knocking my head on it. Has anyone esle had this problem and does anyone know which part I need to replace or better still is there a repair I can do,

Cheers

Hi Neil,

I'll take a look later today and see if I can come up with an answer.

Could just need Viagra!

Neil,

It seems as if the sprung part of your visor has become weak or has completely broken. I don't think that they are adjustable or repairable, but I may be wrong. reap would probably know as he is a Pug professional.

My advice would be to have a look at the sun-visors in the 206 hatchback models. I think you'll find that the ones in the higher spec. cars are the same as in the CC. If this is the case I would then undo the screws (just 2 I think - and put them somewhere safe!) attaching your visor to the car and take it round your local car breakers to compare it with the visors in any 206's that they have in for dismantling. Ring around first to make sure they have some 206's in - it'll save legwork/petrol/time. There are usually plenty of 206 hatchbacks in, but 206CCs will be hard to find. Make sure the matching visor you find works properly and that the sprung mechanism is working perfectly before you take it out of the scrap car. You might as well take the scrap car's screws too so you'll have some spares. I am pretty sure you'll find one that matches, then it is simply a case of putting it into your car.

I did this with my little Corsa and even managed to upgrade the old visors by selecting ones with vanity mirrors from a more upmarket model. Only cost a couple of quid too! I don't think you'll manage an upgrade on the 206CC ones though, they are quite nice already.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the advice. I probably won't be able to go scrapyard hunting for a wek or so, but after I've sorted it, I'll let you know,

You're not the only one to have had that happen to your visor! I too got into my car one day and the visor flopped down, didn't take any notice of it until I was driving it at night and attempted to put it up when it just flopped down again.

I have no idea how this happened, however did get it replaced. I got mine from Peugeot but I had also got in touch with a number of salvage yards etc and found a website called 247spares.co.uk and they quoted me a really good price however I'd alredy bought mine.

Hope you manage to find one.

Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay and how did you manage to get the right colour,

I paid £70 for the pair (as Peugeot doesn't sell them singularly) however I was quoted about £25 for the one visor from the salvage place.

The visor only comes in one colour - the creamy colour.

I wasn't aware that they came in different colours

Neil,

How's your French?

If you understand French why not try the French eBay site. Lots of Peugeots over there! instead of co.uk use the suffix fr and search in the automobiles section for "206 pare soleil"

there is an item that might suit you but it would be a passenger side design item

http://cgi.ebay.fr/Pare-soleil-avant-dr ... dZViewItem

Up to you if you are feeling brave. Makes common sense to search eBay France for spares for French cars as long as you bear in mind you'd be getting a passenger visor for the right hand side of your car!

So there's definitely no way of getting them seperately from Peugeot? That's a nice little money spinner for them, as usual.

Why do I keep buying Peugoets? Oh, that's right, I love the cars.

Just wish they came without dealer parts prices!

Neil,

There will be no other supplier than Peugeot, no. They will not be a fast enough moving item (not like consumables such as oil and air filters, brake pads, tyres etc) for the spare parts manufacturers to make a profit from them. So Peugeot end up with the whole of the market for them and can charge what they like, within reason.

Your best chance of sourcing reasonably priced ones is from a hatchback at a breakers yard. There are bound to be some, just like new, from a crashed car which has had a rear end collision.

Nope, only come in a pair.
