same here. will complain to dealer at 6k service.
worth noting that i never had that problem with my 1st CC and that was 2002 spec so it's nothing to do with that.

No no, I think it's a security feature. Haven't you heard of these people who hang around in multi-storey car parks with machines that can pick up the output from remote control keys, duplicate them and break into the car? I am glad that mine only unlocks when I am standing right by the door. The locking works from further away, which is fine to use as you walk away in a hurry.
I don't believe this is a fault. Give the poor dealers a break! (and I'm not one)

i don't think the short range is a security feature - think about it .....
one button is to flash the hazards without opening the doors to locate the vehicle if you can't see it.....
not a lot of good if you need to find the car in the 1st place for the lights to flash is it ???

i haven't been yet greg, will wait to the 6k service, 2k to go.
my first CC was fine and would work from quite a distance so it's obviously a fault.

Well at least now i know. Wasn't too sure about making a fool of myself in a German dealership (haven't had to make a visit yet - luckily!)
Seeing as i'm coming back to the UK (boo!) in august i'll wait till i can be patronised by a British pug-monkey so at least i'll understand their disdain at my lack of any kind of motor-knowledge whatsoever...
Well, that's no quite true - everything i know about motors, i've learnt from this web-site...
