As Paul (Nobby) shows above, he has made a big saving. If a UK car was worth £10k in 3yrs time, there is no way he would only get £5k for his import. This is why Subaru UK are so against the imports.

I was sold my cc by an independant garage who confirmed it was a UK car, not an import. I then found out from Peugeot that it was actually an import and I lost out on the warranty that I ithought I had when I bought the vehicle.
When I first started looking for a cc, I got in touch with peugeot and a number of other dealers to find out about imports etc and I was told that the CC isn't even made in the UK. How true this is, I don't know. One thing's for sure is that there seems to be more negatives than positives about this car and I certainly won't be buying one again!

Eh? Most cars aren't made in the UK, but it doesn't stop people buying them. In fact, apart from the ordinary 206 and the Nissan Micra, and small volume stuff like TVRs, Ginettas, Reliants, Bentleys and Rolls-Royces (latter two made elsewhere, assembled in the UK), I can't think of any. If you buy a parallel import, you're getting exactly the same car off the same production line. The only difference is anything the UK dealers chuck in for free: maybe alarms or CD players, or a 3rd year's warranty (2 years manufacturer's pan-European warranty is compulsory on any new car sold in the EU).

ALL 206CC`s are made in France, mine was an "import" so then shipped to Spain and i arranged to have it collected from Alicante and transported back to the UK...
One year less waranty but nearly £4k cheaper !!
If you hve proof they told you it was a UK car then go back to them because it was misrepresented and therefore you could claim under the SALE OF GOODS act and get some compensation.

I am aware that the majority of cars aren't made in the UK and it certainly wouldn't stop me from buying a car - although I have my doubts about buying a peugeot ever again!
The point I was trying to make from my post was the fact that I'd been sold a misrepresented vehicle (as RMH said).
<I am actually in the process of legal proceedings not just for the import issue but a number of other issues surrounding warranties etc which I won't bore you with>

When you purchase a second hand car, ask to have a look at the service book. This will tell where it was first registered and tell you if it's an import or not. If they say they can't find it or are waiting for it,

On the log book mine shows the car as registered in the UK, but when you look at the service / Warranty book it shows the car was registered in cyprus. The service book shows the original dealers details and this should tell you if it's an import. If they won't show you the service book assume it's an import.
