Its even more
when they cant actually fix it....
Not all Pug mechanics seem to even read the mainstream tech releases
I mean you would think they would be on top of leaks and roof seal issues... i had to SHOW him the roof was not square with the bodywork....one catch was tight the other was slack......DOH

My first post! My baby CC's gave me me the cat conv fault and juddered like a mad thing at the weekend
. She's now booked into the garage for Wednesday to be looked after - is there anything I should make sure they absulutely should do?
My warrantee runs out on 24th and i want to make she she's sorted now so's not to leave me with huge maintance bills next month
please bear in mind I'm not technically minded and dont want to have the wool pulled over my eyes or be fobbed off on this one .... and advice would be much appreciated (she's a 2.0ltr SE)
Ooooh and she quite often loses all the instruments on the dashboard (she particularly likes doing this when I'm on the motorway along way from home and when no-one else is with me!) more often than not it comes back on again but is there a quick fix for this at all?

hi y'all
Had this a couple of times now on my SE. Seems to happen when she's been started and stopped a couple of times in quick succession. From reading messages obviously is this lambda sensor. Been for resets and had the software upgrade but no mention of this. Am thinking of taking her in again soon as I am getting a very brief loss of power on setting off from cold, just for a fraction of a second and then we're off. Might change her in August though, (For another one!). Warranty's up next Feb and you know when something serious is likely to happen!!

Just to let you know Louise, I took info off these boards in for my garage to have a look at and they were appreciative - they ran tests and ended up replacing the sensors for me (they also replaced the dashboard dials completely but that was a different problem) under warrentee - it might be worth pointing them in the right direction. Mine's running brilliantly now!!

Hi im new here,
I too have been having problems with catalic converter/antipollution fault warnings. I recently have had the coil pack and spark plugs replaced, but the fault is still an ongoing problem. So now i have been told that the hydraulic tappets are to be replaced.
Does anyone know what type of symptoms my car would be showing if this is true?
Cheers Glen

Took my beloved 206 to the garage today as the cat warning/air pol warning signs came on a few days ago. (theyve since stopped and the car drives fine) The guy at the garage had a loooooong look and gave me a bill for £1,500 saying the engine is "buggered" apparently. Its only 3 yrs old (sept 02) and ive only gone 35,000 miles in that time so I and my hubby are a bit miffed as to why its gone like this already. Ive already had to have the exhaust changed as that "fell off" and thats not the last of it!
Does anyone think im maybe being stiffed by my local Peugeot garage because I bloody do.
When I went to the garage to book it in for a check up the guy reconisedme as I said "Hi, im here for my bi-monthly problem with my car" now that CANT be right!!

Yep am going to on monday hopefully. Im a bit calmer and less peed off today, was ready to kill the mechanic last night!
I may do what TinyAmethyst did and take info off here to the garage too, see if that does anything. Stupid thing is the car drives perfectly fine, it doesnt seem to have a problem at all which is even more annoying. Even if I save £500 quid by going somewhere else it will be a start.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated! xx

Hey Forum,
I have been plagued with the Anti pollant/ catalytic converter problem for the last 6 months with a 2002 206GTI - car would drive like a dog in the mornings with frequent stalls etc and the Anti pollant message coming up every day.
Peugeot garage wanted to change the cam followers for £700+, after of course they ran their diognostic, changed the plugs and charged me £100!
Another Forum also indicated that it was the cam followers ?
I could not beleive the cam followers were responsible for the fault and reasoned that it must be the Lambda sensor - the one after the cat.
yesterday I replaced the 4 wire lambda sensor and the problem has gone away completely!!!!!! - not sure if its me but the car seems much smoother as well.
Got the lambda sensor from Morgan motors - using http://www.partsgateway.co.uk - also some other peugeot bits - very reasonable :-)
I hope my experiance is off assistance.
Regards
Jason
