Guys and Gyals, hoping you can help me out. My girlfriends got a 1.6 206cc with 17"s on it and it vibrates a little when on the motorway. Ive had all the wheels balanced with no results. Just wondering if theres any other 206cc owners with 17" alloys that suffer the same problem. Is it steering geometry (tracking) or something else.

Its fine around town, just on the motorway.

:D

Could be the ball joints and something else in that area - can't remember what off hand.

I had the same issue but it was caused by premature wear & tear due to the car being lowered AFAIK.

Ball Joints.... allready?? The cars only 2 yrs old. Ive had the wheels on there for a couple of months and its done it from day one.

Could it be because the 17"z are a tight fit on 206cc's

Don't think wear and tear won't happen on a Pug early. I sold mine at 2yrs 8 months and the steering was on it's way back to being knackered for 2nd time. Fix the first time must have been at under 2 years old.

Bear in mind that the Ouragan 16" alloys all corroded within 2 years and the exhaust fell off so no surprise.

I didn't get the steering fixed 2nd time, I just sold the car as the engine was knackered as well and I didn't fancy the £3000 repair bill

We`re talking about swapping it for an SLK. Think i might do it sooner rather then later

Might be worth getting it checked over at an independent garage to see what is wrong.

I got all my repairs done at Peugeot Ecosse as at least they guys know what they are doing when it comes to Peugeots - I wouldn't let a pug dealer anywhere near it because they don't know what they are doing.

How confident are you that the wheels are balanced?

I ask this as I used to own a 205 with three spokes ( Its ok to laugh. it was a few years back! ) Every time I had new tyres I was told that they were balanced only to have to go back and get them done again. I think the alloys were not of the best quality and were difficult to get balanced hence why the tyre shops did not want to waste there lead weights on my wheels.

If you are sure every wheel has been balanced correctly I would be checking for any movement on any of the wheels. Grab each wheel whilst attched to the car and pull/ push to check for any movement. If this is ok then check tyres for nails, screw, flatt spots or deformities.

Oh yes:- check the discs as these could be warped or scored, which will cause vibration, but you would expect the vibration to increase when braking if this was the case.
