Well after a weekend of driving the 180 I can safely say that it will kill a 2.0cc. It's excellent even with its low mileage, and i know that it will just get faster as the miles rack up.

The overall drive is so much better too. The gear throw is much shorter (its so nice when 2nd gear engages every time  ), the brakes give you total confidence and the slightest squeeze on the accelerator propells the car instantly... I shouldn't be comparing the two because they are not in the same class at all.

It doesn't actually feel like a pug as there are no rattles  I know its new so I might have rattling fun for the future but the build quality is much better. The only bad point so far is the slightly stiffer clutch pedal, or maybe I was just used to the CC being a bit easier on the leg.

The other night I was wondering whether to go to bed, or take the car out again... If getting in a car is more preferable to climbing into bed at 12 then its gotta be good

I still miss my CC tho, and summer will never be the same again

erm...my cc has no rattles either - it's called brand new peugeots :P give it 6 months though hehe, my last hatchback 206 was lovely for about 6 months then the customary pug ralltes begin ;)

not sure abut the 2nd gear thing - I've never had an issue with pug gearboxes going into 2nd?

it'd kill a 2.0 cc yeh as they're heavy old cars, but when I compared the 138 hatchback to the 180 hatchback (both brand new cars) there was less difference

personally I didn't notice any considerable difference between the 2 litre cc and the gti 180
it'd kill a 2.0 cc yeh as they're heavy old cars
which is it then hehehehe

My 2 year old CC didnt rattle at all. I've yet to hear a pug rattle, which is strange as everyone else bitches about it.

Many CC's have the 2nd gear problem including my old one (and even reverse).

Well I test drove the 180 and didnt find much of a difference in performance. Brakes and gearbox felt the same and I think they actualy are the same parts used in both cars. The 180 did feel more rigid though. I personaly found that the 180 lacked torque and although you will be able to keep a 180 in gear for longer I found it didnt give me any overall benifit as when changing gear to the next drive it seemed to have out reved the part of the rev range that would give good torque in the following gear. I find if you change gear correcly and quickly in a 138 car you wont loose out. The 180 excels in its in gear performance. I guess I am used to my 138 and I know exacly where to change gear to make the most of the next gear and I just didnt find the same sweet spots in the 180 car. Perhaps I just needed a bit more time with the car. Anyway Gladd you like your car.
