Hello
Am new to this forum but have been driving my 206CC for over 4 years with no problems.
However in the past couple of weeks I've had problems with the engine diagnostics light coming on, both intermittently when the car seems to be lacking accelaration and is very juddery, then solid when everything seems to be running OK. I've been told by the garage that I need the hydraulic tappets replacing.
Does anyone know if this normal in a 4 year old car that's done less than 45K? I see from another posting on here that there was a problem with the tappets in the 2l (which mine is) - have they changed them - and if it's a design flaw then why am I having to pay to get it done?

i agree on the dodgy tappets.the 2.0 engines tappets have oil ways that are to big, cause lumpy and irratic idling and most of the time causes anti pollution faults(usally on diag as undertermined misfire on 1 or more cylinder) we used to change coil packs for this but never worked.
we now fit the hydraulics from the 1.8 engines as the oil ways are smaller.this makes the engine smoother and more throttle responsive and so far to date has cured the bad starting and stop spuriuos fault readings.
hope this helps.

duno oil sensitive? this as far only effects the 2.0 engines.
new design tappet in the 2.0 was badly designed.caused oil drainage from them, somtimes tke half hour to re pressurize them.
the 1.8 tappets work a treat.
engine idles smoothly with little to no fluffyness, hesutation goes, throttle feels quicker to respond, cold starts improve by 60%. very good mod,one of the best.
