I don't know about sports car but the new one is far better than the old one.
I used to think the old one looked like they had cut something off in error. If it wasn't for the options list being so expensive and the 18 month waiting list when I enquired then I would have been quite tempted by the new SLK.
In the end I got the Zr and I'm happy as I have only ever saw 2 coupes and no other roadsters in the near 6 months I have owned it apart from when I went on the drive with the other 5 owners a few weeks back.

Only 6 months! Our SLK ordered November 2004 arriving 1st March 2006 about the same time as yours. OK we were initially told 1 year then given a delivery date of 3 September 2005 We delayed until March as a better time to sell the CC and liitle benefit from the new car over winter.I just ordered a Mercedes Benz SLK280 today! Have to wait 6 months for it though, but my 206cc driving days are numbered!
To compensate my boss is getting me a New Leon TDI Sport soon
Are you getting Airscarf? I have received mixed opinions as to whether it is any good.

Hi Duncan
No I wont be getting airscarf, I cant see that I would like it.
I only occassionally drive with the roof off when its cold.
I am getting the remote roof, and the glass wind deflector.
What colour are you going for? Are you going to collect from Germany?

Colour a lot of debate on this... SLK will be wifes every day car ( we both get to play at week end) I quite like black but our joint first choise is silver ( not sure which) with a red leather interior which is quite sad... same colour as CC. Budget does not run to the special colour like gold.
Air scarf not on list at moment but heated seats seems better bet for keeping warm. Claire wants reversing aid but doesn't need it. I think electrically adjustable seat much more fun. Will be showing off with roof remote and electric folding mirrors required to safely fit in to garage.
Will be collecting fom UK there are better places I would like to go for the weekend and driving a new car on the wrong side of the road is not my idea of fun... Not to mention the worry of having your new toy abused by ferry or funny train. Factory collection nice idea in theory not sure its that practical. Allthough if someone said my new car was coming fom Maranello I woul seriously consider going to factory.

Chromaflair designo paint..................... £3650.00I wouldn't even want to guess what that would cost on the MB options list

Bit to girlie for my tastes .... wife would like it fortunately the price makes it easy to say no. The MB colour she realy likes is a black with a green metalic fleck in it .... fortunately thats not available in the SLK as i am sure the price is silly.Hi Duncan
Have you seen the chromaflair designo paint that is black, but shines purple? I would love that colour, but you would need money to burn to be able to afford it.
