Now before anyone says my clutch work is crap and thats the reason its reving its not..
its an intermitant fault, when i'm driving normally and ready to change gear, i let go of the accelerator and then clutch down.. normally the revs will drop but it shoots up a few revs and i feel as though i'm learning to drive again..
anyone else come across this prob? i've taken it to the monkeys 3 times now and they keep saying they cant find the fault and just do a software upgrade saying it will fix it but obviously hasnt.
i've got a 53 plate 2.0 cc btw.
Engine over revs on gear change?

Hi
sounds to me like either your engine management system is increasing or holding the revs to protect the catalytic convertor.... if there is unburnt fuel getting into the exhaust gas sensor then it will do this to make sure it burns it (on all modern cars) Try using a fuel injector cleaner for a few weeks to clean out the fuel system.
OR
it could be that the throttle linkage / pedal has become a bit stiff and is not always shutting off when you take your foot off, try squirting the pedal box (where the accelarator pedal is hinged) with some WD40 (not so much it goes all over the bedals though!) and also get someone to work the accelarator whilst you look under the bonnet and squirt anything that moves with WD40 .... it cant do any harm.
Look on the bright side at least it still goes!
