Hi Little_miss
my sis is getting a streetka so a little advice from yourself would be great if you could
Its a mixed reaction from owners i guess. The 206cc comes with its faults but its a lottery as to which problems you get. Its a fantastic car when it works though (which mine does)
Main ones are -
- Squeaky brakes affects 50% of models.
- Roof leaking, but then all cabrios leak (and occasional roof failures) my roof however has always been top notch! (so far )
- Door problems (alignment and not closing properly) mine close perfectly although driver door was badly aligned.
- electrical faults, i think only old models are affected by this. mine is fine.
There are a few others such as squeaking clutch pedal which i had, hopefully other members will advise you. But the main problem that members suffer is the poor service from Peugeot. I for one have never had a problem and actually visited them today and was treated very well as usual (Rootes Maidstone)
The problems can be rectifiable but the pleasures of driving this car far outweigh the problems and after a year i cant get enough
between the 1.6 and 2 litre versions the 1.6 is a bit slow but can definately impress once its been well run in. It also has slight hesitancy in the engine when cold, so would have opted for the 2 litre if known (it is a bit of gas guzzler tho apparently)
Good luck with your decision but I would say GO FOR IT!, nearly summer you cant beat the looks you get when you hit that switch and drop the roof! And there is a very helpful community here
PS. get a bluey the best colour.

Good summery there, cant fault it.
I would say get a 1.6 over a 2.0 really not that much differnece in speed at all, and u will save money in petrol and insurance.
Louis
P.s. go for a silver, blue or black. Best 3 colours by far

Thanks for all the info,
I really want a black one i think, yeah i would go for the 1.6, speed isnt really important to me, the streetka is a brilliant car, but the two extra seats would be handy and the metal roof is much safer when parking at night in town, i actually had a look at one with a friend at the peugeot garage and she was told that you have to be over 25 to test drive a cc, or get insurance for the day at your own expense. Well needless to say we told him where to go!So i can understand the bad service that you have had! They really are stunning cars though!Plus insurance is really expensive! I have had some small leaks with my streetka but that comes with all convertibles!are parts expensive, ive only ever had kas and am used to ford being cheap for parts, dont really know much about these!

Shop round for insurance, im sure you will find a good deal.
Touch wood, i havent had anything go wrong with my car that i would consider is major.
3 years warranty, so your pretty well covered.
Go for a Allure, you get loads extra for your money.
Things that cost money are new brakes discs and pads and changing your tyres.
All really depends on how many miles you have done. Mines coming up to its 1st birthday and ive done only 6000 miles. So wont need any of this for a long time.
Advice put £10 away a month into a differnet account and if you need anyrhing doing you will have the cash waiting.
After 3 years make sure you get a extended warranty £150 per year.
Bargain

With regards to parts i think that people are swaying towards independant garages to carry out work now.
I haven't had mechanical work done yet but i needed work to the door once. Peugeot quoted £500+, my local guy charged £200 cash for a spot on job... so it pays to shop around.

i think i am going to go for it, but i will have to sell my atreetka 1st, that could take long enough, i was quoted something stupid for a trade in so thats not an option. Yes the allure is the best for your money, i was so close to getting one a year and a half ago, but they were about 16k brand new so that put me off (id jst turned 18 and its a lot of money!). I might save a little bit so i can get a new one, so i have the 3year warranty. Im not in a rush but i think im going to do it, look around for a good deal! I was quoted £750 for a 1.6, thats not bad considering i have 3 points that was admiral. I def want a black one!i dont want to pay more that 12k though. Oh and does anyone know if they are upgrading the 206cc anytime soon or if they are ever?its just i would be gutted to save up only for them to come out with a different one

I had my 206cc leak free for 9 months. Then a roof tile landed on it and I had to have a new roof. The insurance approved garage could not get the car NOT to leak for 3 months. It went back to the Peugoet garage where I brought it from and they got it to be totally leak free again straight away. I think it you have a good garage they can all be leak free. The first garage replaced the seals twice but it was Peugeot that adjusted them correctly.
Other then the 3 months of total heart ache through the work done by the insurance approved garage the car has been briliiant. The Peugeot garage were really good at taking it in hand and sorting out all the problems with it.
I had squeaky brakes for 2 days and took the car back (again to the same Peugeot garage) and they have never squeaked again, they also adjusted the door and I have had no problems.
I also have the 1.6 Allure
I would recommend it.

Ever considered an imported 206CC ?
It wasn't long ago that you could get a 2.0SE for around £12,700-£13,000.
You will only get 2 year warranty instead of 3 years but you can easily get after market warranty from the savings you make.
You won't see much difference in dealer attitude with an import as in general they give poor service to the customers that they have fleeced getting a UK car anyway
I owned 2 206CC's (one was rejected) and had nothing but trouble in general and great cost but still think they are great cars - Peugeot is the only thing wrong with them. Saying that I would never pay UK prices again as the cars do not justify the cost. I nearly bought a 307CC a few months ago but ended up going for the Nissan 350Z Roadster due to no confidence in Peugeot quality and service. It had to end somewhere after 7 new Pugs in a row
Good luck with what you decide on getting
