206cc definitely the one to go for! Hardtop security although the Ford streetka is cheaper to insure.

Most companies wouldnt even insure me on a 206cc... http://www.elephant.co.uk came to my rescue so i would check them out.

Peugeot give away 1 years free insurance on some new cars but not sure what the age limits are... so check that out too ;)

Elephant.co.uk or Admiral.com are best for young people. I think the Ford Streetka would be cheaper to insure, but after four years of driving a KA, I'm glad to be taking delivery of my cc. In Fords defense it's not been a bad car, but being the basic model did not have much to go wrong anyway!!! Think the StreetKa is a lower engine size, so this may make it less to insure too. Good Luck! :D

Streetka's are cheap to buy as well as insure.

Last week they were going for £9699 + free insurance although i think it was over 18's.

It seems that they can't give them away these days.

206CC wins everytime.

Streetka is a 1.6 and I think it falls in group 9 or 11.

The 206cc 1.6 is group 12 and the 2.0 is 14.

hey scotty
I would definately say try elephant.co.uk, and also putting a parent as an additional driver too, it helps bring the policy down.

im looking at getting a vw golf gti 16valve which is group 16 insurance, and im only 19, with no no claims due to being on my dads insurance. i did a quote on elephant, then added my dad on to it as additional and it dropped it by about £500!! :D :D
i then rang them to check my quote (£820 tpft!) as i was very surprised by it, and they said it would be correct!

I would suggest putting the car in one of your parents names and having you as a named driver. Insurance companies dont like this, so make sure your mum/dad gets the quote and says that they will be the primary driver of the car, but youll use it occasionally. Youre young enough that you can worry about building up your own no claims bonus in a couple of years. Just as an example, when I was 18, my Renault 5 (D Reg 1.1!!) went in my dads name, and cost me £330 a year, third party fire and theft. In my name, the lowest quote I got was £1200 for the same policy spec. The car only cost me £250! Its a no brainer. Ive never made a claim, so im glad I didnt waste the money.

Definitely go with elephant.co.uk. I would be extremely surprised if you get insured for less than £1000 in your own name. Its not just because of your age, but you have little driving experience, which all factors into it. It might also be worth you going back to your driving instructor and requesting a 'pass plus' course (assuming you have a full licence already).

Im 23 (nearly 24) and have a new 1.6 206cc Quiksilver edition. I have one year of no claims bonus and have had my licence for 5 years. I have 3 points on my licence, so that added about £100 to the premium, which came in at about £760 on a 10 month bonus accelerator with elephant, fully comprehensive. Im paying about £900 in total as im paying monthly. I also quoted on a 2 year old low mileage 2 litre model, and it was about £400 a year more for me.

Dont even consider just third party insurance on that car!!!

I'm 27 and paying around £700 for a 1.6. I have 5 years no claims and my no claims bonus is protected. I do however have 6 points and thats why my insurance premium is quite high I guess.

My insurance is with lloyds tsb insurance.
