I want a 206cc - Any help welcome???

Hi everyone,

Im currently looking for a new car (when the next plate comes out) and Im almost set on a 206cc. Can anyone highly recommend or sway me? (either way really?!?) Does the 206cc have certain problems are you all happy with it. Is it reliable? And all those questions you would normally ask.

Its a mixed reaction i guess. The 206cc comes with its faults but its a lottery as to which problems you get. Its a fantastic car when it works though (which mine does)

Main ones are -
- Squeaky brakes affects 50% of models.
- Roof leaking, but then all cabrios leak

(and roof failures) my roof however has been top notch! (so far

)
- Door problems (alignment and not closing properly) mine close perfectly although driver door was badly aligned.

There are a few others such as squeaking clutch pedal which i had, hopefully other members will advise you. But the main problem that members suffer is the poor service from Peugeot. I for one have never had a problem and actually visited them today and was treated very well as usual (Rootes Maidstone)

The problems can be rectifiable but the pleasures of driving this car far outweigh the problems and after a year i cant get enough

between the 1.6 and 2 litre versions the 1.6 is a bit slow but can definately impress once its been well run in. It also has slight hesitancy in the engine when cold, so would have opted for the 2 litre if known

(it is a gas guzzler tho)

Good luck with your decision but I would say GO FOR IT!, nearly summer

you cant beat the looks you get when you're bathed in sunshine!

PS. get a bluey the best colour.

Totally agree with both points above.

I have my car work done by Rootes Maidstone, they are a friendly lot and also the service is fantastic. Mine is a import and Rootes have treated me the same as they would someone that brought the car direct from them.

Mine is blue too, and this is the colour that i wanted, i didn't even look at the other ones. Bluey is the besty

I have had my car almost 4 years. No issues except for a small scratch on my drivers widow which was caused by a misfitted side impact bar. Corrected by dealership under warranty, but it was so faint if it happened now I wouldnt bother havng it fixed.

No leaks. No roof failiures. A few occasional squeeks around the window seals and the odd squeel from the brakes.

I think it all depends on what you expect from the cc and what car you are used to. I owned 2 cabrios before the cc and the 206 hard top convertiple is leaps ahead in respect of water ingress and highspeed air leaks. One day it will go wrong and that will be the day it goes, but until then I will be getting the most from it.

The fact of the matter is I think for once I have been the lucky one in my cc purchase. That said all issues can be corrected with the excteption possibly of the odd squeeks, but then even they can be sortes with a bit of preventative maintenance. I would however recomend that should you purchase a cc and get a fault come on this forum first before going to your dealer. I think there is more valuable info on this site than what you whould ever get from a Pug garage.

I agree with all these comments. The enjoyment of driving my CC outweighs the problems I've had with the car. My car is 2.5 years old and my roof has failed once and was repaired under warrenty. I've changed my brakes to cure the squeaks and my passenger window has been re-aligned to shut properly

Overall its a good car when you get a good one and when the summer comes round its the business!

Wouldn't know what to replace it with for the same price.

Thank you for your replies - Im from Ashford too! A coincidence! Have any of you ever had two adult back seat passengers? I love the blue colour so that is my first option! My nearest Peugeot dealer is KAP in Folkestone.

I live in Kennington, Ashford and my nearest is Folkestone but i found Maidstone much better and if you ever need to put the car in for warantee work you can go shopping.

I love mine. Sad i know.

Compared to a Rover, a Peugeot should be relatively trouble free.

That's me speaking as an MG owner so I'm not just slating Rover forthe sake of it.

Well I could try Maidstone then as I love the shops! And if I came away with one, its further to drive hehe..always good.

Yes My Rover 416 was ok until the Head gasket went(and I have been told that is a common problem on th 400 series!!) cost an arm & a leg!! t hasnt been right since then althought its a good runner!

If....NO WHEN I buy my 206CC, I will post on here again with photos!

maidstone seems to be good for me, but the parking is just limited... just leave it there and they sort it all out

This is almost impossible. One passenger with legs up on the other back seat can be done, but the front passenger has to pull the seat forward 100% ...hardly ideal

This is a two seater with back seats for shopping bags. The advantage of the car is the amount of space to carry things... it pisses all over mgf, mx5, mr2 etc...

I have had 4 adults in my cc before. Far from ideal, but removing the front headrests helps the passengers in the rear feel a little less claustrophobic.
