Hi! this is my first visit to this website. I have been having the same problem as a lot of people on this forum. I have a peugeot 206 with a 1.4 engine.
The orange diagnostic light has been coming on at regular intervals. A couple of times, it made the engine actually stop, but most of the time, the light comes on but goes off very quickly, and most of the time, the car feels ok when driving.
I have taken it to my local garage where they could not find a fault, but it is now with a peugeot garage, and they have told me that they think I need a new coil pack for the car. Has anyone else had this done to their car, and has it resolved the problem.

did they give you a diagnostic print out?
2 probs happening with these
1st is coil packs spiking signals causing light to come on.
will need ....electrofill coil pack(new improved type)
x 4 bosch(good resistants over yukky pug ones)
and a screen wire hard wired between ecu and coill pack connector
(this acts like a lighten rod)any spikes or naff signals will go down screen wire and harmlessly away to earth instead of giong back into ecu making it do silly things
2nd fault is adaption of air in intake manifold, which basically means you require a new throttle body(cause the plstic body prematurly wears causing stall and other nasties)
if you could get a print out of trace i could tell you straight away what you need.
if in warranty (get both done)
easy.....

Thanks for replying Reap. I have typed in the details of what they did below.
A LAB
EML ON AND INTERMITTANT STALLING
checked for faults none stored, carried out downl
fault ocurred once.
suspect possible coil pack intermittant fault.
A LAB
FIT COIL, PLUGS AND EXTS.
X P0000596015 SPARK PLUG 4
X P0000596319 SET 4 EXTENT 1
X P0000597074 IGNITION COIL 1
X P00006555K9 CONDENSER 1

Re: orange diagnostic light
hi
thanks for the exellent info above.
my 206 1.4lx is suffering from the same symptoms and i have bought a bougicord coilpack.
its 2000 x-reg with £35,000 miles on it, engine code TU3JP-KFW. i can see the grey connector to the coil-pack, but this seems to run down the back of the engine somewhere, not direct to the ECU, so not sure if it already has a condensor fitted.
can anyone please direct me how and where to fit the 2.2uf condensor? the instructions above say to "pin 4" but i have no idea what "pin 4" is.
also, what is the "screen wire" and where should this be?
many thanks!
