Well...seeing as this is an open discussion forum i thought i would have my say on the burning issue of the week (not whether Beckham will be fit in time for WCup).
I agree whole-heartedly with the reasons behind banning Paul73whateveritwas, after all as we all know we do have young people reading this site on a regular basis (Hi William) and some of his posts were unacceptable.
I am confused as to why Derek and Robbie got warned - i couldn't really see anything wrong with their posts apart from a bit of cheeky banter mixed in with - lets not forget - SERIOUS offers of money in exchange for a car. Unfortunately now the topic has been deleted those people not involved in the discussion will not be able to judge for themselves.
My point is (eventually) that the reason I, and probably others who use this forum, visit it regularly is not because we are "Car-Bores" and only want to read straight forward Q & A's but because we are owners or future owners of a sexy fun car, which makes us "different" from the norm. Surely the fact we own CC's make us all people who enjoy life, have a sense of humour, and don't take things too seriously?

I for one would not visit a site where the forum went along these lines:

Q: I was wondering whether a 345.8mm FuFu valve attached to my Flange Grommet would increase my bhp by 0.0004 percent?
A: No you need the 89.78 Receptacle flash doobry like i have. It costs £1000 from http://www.sadman.com
*Discussion Closed*

The topic that was deleted was asking for offers on an imported CC. During the course of the discussion two offers were made that were serious and there was banter (and mickey-taking) about how much it was worth. BUT IT WAS GOOD-HUMOURED AND ENTERTAINING - until Paul dragged it down. However, he acheived his aim of getting not one, but two offers for his car. His problem he didn't like the offers made...

Please don't stifle peoples humour, don't lets stop the banter. I can't offer much advice on the technical side of motoring, but i do regularly pick up tips from people here (mentions to Derek, Robbie, Rob et al) Does this mean unless i've got something serious and relevant to offer i should say nothing?

I hope not...
Now- sorry for taking up so much space. I'm going to have to go and get a McFlurry and calm down!
(bet you can't guess what i'm going to have in it?)

Thanks guys!

Well I really prefer quiet goodbyes, I think though it is appropriate to make just a quick last post. I have asked Lyndon to take me off the membership and I know he will respect my wishes, which has nothing to do with recent events on the Forum. Its due to personal matters and so much work on my hands it has unfortunately taken up more and more of my time recently. So I won't be accessing any more PM's but will drop in as a guest and browse from time to time.

It's been great talking with a fun bunch of people in general and I have very much enjoyed my time on this Forum, thank you so much.

Thanks to Liz (for introducing me to this great site) Derek, Greg, Matt, Alexis, trungdinh, Frosty and others. I know that Lyndon, Rob and Julie have worked extremely hard recently to ensure this remains a successful site for all ages to enjoy and I'm confident this will continue with the sort of people that are on the Forum. I'll certainly be allowing my young daughter to browse the Forum. My thanks especially to them.

Very sad to see you go Robbie...
Thankyou for your insightful posts - not one of which i thought was offensive btw.
Here's hoping the rest of us keep the forum going in the spirit in which it was set up, as it is a very useful tool for all CC owners. But, as i said above - lets keep the humour and fun and banter etc etc alive.
All the very best for the future

ps Happy Motoring

Sad to see you go Robbie. Who else will I get to advise me on exterior care of my car??!

Don't be a stranger and take care with that CC while you've still got it.

Sad to see you go - just like to say thanks as its really down to you, Derek, Lyndon, Rob, Julia etc that I bought my CC - I wasn't sure but after reading this site for a couple of months I could see how passionate you all were about the CC even with the problems - so its you I have to blame for the debt I've got to pay off!  - wouldn't have it any other way though.

Thanks again Nikki ;)

Robbie,

Good luck with the new car (and with finding a boot rack that looks as good as the one on your cc ;))

Well Denmark, seeing as you asked...
Basically Paul7thingy put a post up in the discussion forum asking for offers on his 2.0CC import. The general opinion was that he shouldn't hold out for a top price as people will generally not pay over the odds for an import. Both Robbie and Derek made offers that some of us felt were reasonable which were were turned down by Paul using offensive language (he got round Lyndons "swear-checker" by swapping some letters round but it wasn't hard to work out what he meant). Derek and Robbie were then 'told off' for not being serious and indulging in "mickey taking"...Although their offers were genuine. Then a few more people started coming in and making posts to stir things up a bit and in the end it all got out of hand.
Derek and Robbie were 'warned' and Paul (eventually) got banned from the forum.

I personally think that the topic should have been left on but locked (with Pauls swearing edited out? - not sure if this is possible?) so people could make their own minds up - however it wasn't to be...

Well sorry for bringing it up again - hopefully this will be the end of it - we've already lost two people...

Hope that fills you in a bit Denmark, and apologies if my recollections of the subject differ to anyone elses - if they do, please PM me if you want me to edit this msg...lets not start it going again!
By the way, the whole thing WAS entertaining - you can't deny that...
