Hi, we've had our 206 for 6 months now, just as last summer was ending, so haven't used the roof much. But we showed it to friends last week(as you do) and when I went in the boot later, the white pull cord had snapped off. I've searched the forums and found that many others have had this problem and have had a new cord fitted under warranty. Unfortunately, the warranty on our car ran out last month.
So my question is, has anyone repaired this themsleves, or know how to. I'm quite handy with the car, so not afraid to get stuck in, but don't want to break something I don't know about. Also, very reluctant to pay Peugeot's labour rates,
Thanks
Neil
White pull cord in boot - has anyone fixed this themselves?

to be honest you only need the white pull cord IF the roof fails and you have to manually reset it, in 3 and 1/2 years my roof failed only ONCE,10 days after pickup.
i think in the downloads section their's a video of the roof in action and it shows you the white pull cord in detail.
it's one of those -

Thanks for the replies so far. I've just wrote to Peugeot, see if they'll do the job for me as it's so close out of warranty. Also, thanks lyndon for your reply, the problem is you don't know my luck. I would probably need it one day when it's just about to p**s down and we'd be there with the roof stuck down.

Whilst I've been waiting for Peugeot to get back to me, I've taken off the black panel which the cord comes through and found it's really easy to remove, just 2 black push clips. Now my problem is I can't see where the cord was previously attached to.
Would anyone be able to take their panel off and point out to me where this cord is supposed to go, maybe even take a photo. I appreciate all this is quite a tall task and don't really expect anyone to do it. My only other alternative is to wait until I'm in the area of the dealer and ask them if I can have a quick look at another cc,
Cheers
Neil

Neither can I
Some photos of mine are attached, it is just a loop of string which loops under the cylinder and to be honest I can't quite see it's point, unless mine has also come off of wherever it's supposed to be attached.

Neither can I

Hey no probs, if you need any more let me know. FWIW mine was hanging down but it won't fall out as it's under that cylinder thing. I just pushed the white knob into the hole where you see it.slim Gym, this is excellent. If your ever in the South Wales area and spot a moonstone cc (quite often roof-down, as long as there's no rain, pull me over and I'll buy you a pint. I'll let you all know how I get on,
Neil

5 Minutes later and a new bit of ordinary cord and the job's done. A really easy job, and now I notice that the toggle is shaped to be pushed into the hole so it stays there. I wonder how much Peugoet would've wanted to sort that out. Incidentally, they never replied to my messages, that must be why they fall low down in the customer service rankings,
Thanks all for your replies, 10/10 goes to Slimgym, and also full marks for this website, invaluable to any cc owner,
Neil
(Happy my toggle's back, but hope I never need to use it!!)

download the pug-vid-04.avi clip then about 1.10 minutes into it it shows you the reason for the pull cord
