Hi all,

Thinking of getting an imported cc from the above site but need help on a few points.

a) do imported vehicles still hav warranty, it says so, but would the pug monkeys treat you mean?

b) what's the difference between a quicksilver with leather & an allure with leather?

c) any bad experiences with imports?

Any input gratefully received!!!

Hiya,

Dealers will only service a import on a certain day so you would probably have a long wait for work or things to be done.

I have been told that imports are built differently, for weather conditions although this was by a dealer trying to sell me a uk one.

The Quicksilver and allure are both special edition models. I have an allure with leather, i know the quicksilver edition comes with chrome roll hoops in the back, im not sure if thats the only difference between the two?

I wonder if that's legal. At the end of the day a uk spec car is a uk spec car & aren't peugeots made abroad anyway? mmm :|

I believe peugeots are made at the Coventry site.

I suspect also the quicksilver and allure will have different badging too though I know the quicksilver with standard trim has the logo on the seats.

I have had an import now for 2 years, never had any issues with it whatsoever (touch wood) and have certainly never been treated any differently by Peugeot dealers!

The cars are identical to a UK spec one, you will get a minimum 2 year warantee with any car bought in the EU. All Peugeot dealers will service or sort out the car and you wont get treated like your second class. Basically its a Peugeot regardless of where you bought it! Plus they would be breaking the law to treat it any differently.

Good luck in your purchase! I saved £2500 when i bought mine!

Hi Danielle,

All Peugeot 206cc's come with 2 year warranty, but Pugs bought from a UK dealer have an additional year or warranty added on.

The Quiksilver models are just 206cc's re-badged with the quiksilver logo, merely to encourage prospective buyers and get rid of a glut of silver cc's. They are meant to come with chrome hoops, although i have heard a few cases where they didnt, so i'd check for that.

206's are made at coventry but all CC's are made in france.

at the end of the day depending on the dealer you may not get treated as well initially but after my experience of uk dealers that can't care less anyway even when yu have a uk car.

there's no way i would buy a pug from a uk dealer again. when looking for a 307CC i looked at motorprovider as they had them at £15,500 but they didn't do the 180 model.

what price have you been given as there a lot of good deals going for import 206cc's, i have seen the QS at £11,499.

Richard Hardy Peugeot in the North east are advertising 1.6 quicksilvers with 16" alloys for 11995 and thats for a UK car. So deals are available

Buy an import and stop worrying.

I always bring my cars in or buy them imported and as long as you specify or the seller states that its a UK spec car .... thats what you get.

All CC's have all languages programmed into their head up display so you can change those easy enough (push some buttons to get anglaise) UK spec cars also have MPH on the dash and are right hand drive!

Our CC has been fine and the dealer has always observed the 2 year peugeot warrenty - once we explained it to him slowly.

Dealers are bound to make up stories about making cars differently for the UK, they are obviously having their margins squeezed, the fact is that the only regions where seriously different engine specs are required are Mexico (altitude issues apparently) and california where the emmisions rules are tighter.

The only downside can be the resale as dealers will start telling stories about lower resale values etc and unfortunately the chassis number gives it away if you try to tell them its a UK car..... obviously if you sell it privately people never ask so you can do just as well.

Trade sales in slough offerred trade ins last time I bought there so that will be an interesting way to dispose of an import I suppose!

Enjoy your savings but do shop around for a UK deal if you know exactly what you want.

I have had loads of problems with my Import, BUT with a bit of persuassion they will sort it out. When i bought mine you only go 1 year warranty, but as pointed out this is now 2 years.

One dealer will not tajke the car in at all and i have reported this to Peugeot as a breach of their dealership arrangement but larger dealers dont really care as they get paid anyway.

As soon as its bought in make sure you pay the VAT and get it UK registered and regiter it with a Pug dealer, this will help if you have any issues.

I can give you the conatct details for the dealer in Alicante Spain that i bought mine from, i believe they are the third largest dealer in Spain and are happy to deal direct with UK customers and suppy UK spec cars...although as always they want a hefty deposit as they dont want to be left with a UK car.

I then got a UK car transport company to collect it from Spain and once in the UK they got it all registered and sent in the VAT forms and even got the road tax.....cheaper than paying the importers ...i think this was about £400 in all ...

If you want to save cash cut out as many middle men as possible :D , reply to this and i will post contact details for the dealer and transport company....

Thanks everyone,

You've certainly given me alot to think about. I was originally looking at the 2.0l SE (£12,595), but I've decided that although it's about the same price (£12,695) the 1.6 Allure will be better for insurance, tax etc. Having leather seats was one of the biggest factors for me & i've just noticed that they've got the Quicksilver with leather for £200 less, anyone care to tell me the difference between the two of those? The Allure has a 'sports pack' but if you look on the peugeot site it means nothing!!! It's all so much to consider! :rolleyes:
