I hope this problem is just a loose connection (although I have had a quick look to this end and not been lucky).

At any time in a journey with the engine cold or hot you can feel a momentary loss of power from the engine. At the same time the water temp needle drops to cold, the air con is lost, the fans on the radiator turn on full and the car thinks it is cold as it uses the auto choke to raise the base idle of the car to 1100 rpm. Then at a random time later everything comes back.

This problem can happen as regularly as every 2 minutes or only once in a 200 mile trip.

Any ideas?

Big thanks Reap, all sorted now, who would have thought a small temp sensor could cause so much trouble. As you said easy to get to and easy to fit too.

Hi, I am having alot of trouble with my Peugeot 106. It is a 1996 model (R reg). For some reason, the ECU keeps blowing? I have now gone through x 3 ECU's but as soon as they are fitted, they blow? Is this a common problem? I have had numerous mechanics look at this, but cant come up with the source of the problem? Please help !!!!!
