Hi everyone,

Im new to all this so i hope this post doesnt sound silly.

Ive just bought a 02 plate 206cc 1.6s only had it 2 days and i cant seem to understand how the alarm works. I have a key fob with a locked and a unlocked padlock on it. If i press the locked padlock the doors lock and the indicators flash, if i press it again it sounds to me as if the deadlocks lock, is this correct? If i then press the locked padlock a 3rd time the indicators start flashing for about 10 seconds, im assuming that by doing this a 3rd time ive set the alarm off but theres no noise! :?

Can someone please help me by telling me how to use the alarm as i have no clue, if it did go off how do i stop it and is it possible to turn the siren off so just the indicators flash if its activated

Thanks for help
Nikki

On my 03 plate (which has mux wiring - split hazard/lock door button) the first press of the lock button locks and deadlocks the doors. The second press releases the deadlocks. Any subsequent presses are so you can locate the car in a carpark, it flashes the indicators quickly (like you can lose a 206cc anywhere...).

I guess to check which yours is, leave the windows down, press the lock button, and attempt to lift the door stopper, so see in which position it's deadlocked. I recall on earlier cars you did have to press the lock button twice to deadlock.

Welcome to the club, enjoy :D
