After shopping for insurance quotes for the car on the way, I've begun to realise it's going to cost me a fair bit.
Have you guys got any suggestions for a company to try? Who do you insure through? I realise it's a convertible, but surely it can't make it THAT more expensive? It's only a 1.6lt engine.
Suggestions? Anyone else think the insurance is pretty expensive?

TRY WWW.JUSTCARINSURANCE.COM.AU or shannon insurance..... if aami accepts u can try adjusting so your excess is higher and your premium is lower

Try
www.lloydstsbinsurance.co.uk
I've been with these for 4 years and they've always been the cheapest for me! Even with my 6 penalty points.

Just in case this helps anyone:
I found Just Cars to be the cheapest, but they dont offer choice of repairer, and they are one payment up front.
CGU (www.cgu.com.au) are the next cheapest (for me), have good features ie choice of repairer, new car replacement for 2-3 years and pay by the month for no extra cost. Thay also don't load the premium if you have finance on the car. They were cheaper than NRMA and NRMA charges extra to pay by the month.

Which is interesting because both NRMA Insurance and CGU are part of the same company - IAG Australia. Shows that it pays to shop around eh?Just in case this helps anyone:

I'm curious what sort of prices you're being quoted - I hadn't realised it cost so much for some drivers. And to think I thought nearly $600 was expensive

Steve,
The quotes on the pug for me have ranged from $1300 with just cars to $2700 with swann (interestingly, part of CGU!) to AAMI not insuring me till I'm 25.. and thats private, if I go to business use (which I will have to soon) it adds about another $300-400pa.
Hope this info makes you feel very lucky

$1300 is very cheap considering you are under 25. I was with NRMA 206CC 1.6 Auto at $1900pa with 50% No claim, over 25 in Sydney moderate risk area.Steve,
