Hello all,

My girlfriend has just bought (well nearly) a 2001 206cc. Its a black 1.6 and the only extras it has are the "sport pack", filler cap, gear knob and pedals. It has 26,000 on the clock and seems mechanically sound.

I have no real experience of Peugeots being a Volkswagen man and as such thought I might ask what things I need to check/sort/replace/upgrade as a general service and check up.
I always do all the work on my own cars so any servicing will be done by me and as such its nice to know what to look for.
Are there any common problems with the 1.6 or with the 206cc in general other than the leaking roof! :D

Cheers all

Jay

Hi there,

I have a 1.6 and haven't had too many problems with it. Squeaky brakes have been the main problem, and a lot of people here will probably say the same thing.

The 1.6 also has an occasional random hesitancy in the engine which can be a problem when you need to pull out of a junction.

The roof had a minor leak after a few weeks, but a trip to the dealer has sorted it (so far).

Its a great car, hope you have many sunny days!

There's not many problems with the car

Like people say its usually squeaky brakes and trim rattles.

My car has proved reliable apart from a faulty roof due to a blown fuse
